Very weird kanina a (someone taking my car's picture)

Share ko lang po yung nangyari kanina. Daily akong naka park sa parking lot ng train station. Nang pauwi ako doon ko din nakita yung isang lalake na kumuha ng pic ng harapan ng sasakyan ko. Yung angle ng pagkuha nya ng shot parang sinadyang kunan talaga ang license plate ko. Stock ang car ko hindi kagaya ng previous car ko na modified kaya hindi ko maisip na may magkakagusto na kunan ng litrato ang car ko. Nagkasalubong kami kaya tinanong ko kung sya:

Ako: did you just take a picture of my car including my license plate?
Siya: yup
Ako: what's your purpose of taking a pic of my car including my license plate? Take all the pictures you want, but i don't want my license plate included.
Siya: it is my right under the constitution to take any picture that i want.

Dito na nagsisimulang mag init ulo ko kasi identity ko lang ang iniisip ko pero sya ay ginagamit na ang constitution.

Ako: i don't care. My license plate is my identity. I demand you delete the pic.

Inaalala ko ang mga pwede nyang gawin sa pic ng car ko na naka exposed ang license plate ko.

Siya: you are in a public parking lot. You have no right to privacy.

naisip ko tama siya pero syempre iniisip ko pa rin ang pwede nyang gawin sa pic na nakalagay ang license plate number ko.

Ako: will you delete the picture or will i be forced to make you delete it?
Siya: I am protected by the constitution. It is my right to take any picture that I want.

Pu*?!$ In*$& constitution yan sabi ko sa sarili ko kasi seguridad ko pa rin ang nasa isip ko. Dalidali kung inilagay sa loob ng car ang mga gamit ko tapos bumalik ako sa kinatatayuan nya (harap ng car ko). Nagmamatigas pa rin. Dali dali kung tinignan kung saan ko sya pwedeng idis-able in case na armado sya kaya doon ako lumapit.

Siya: you are threatening me.
Ako: (LOL) i have never threatened you.
Sya: you just did. (oo nga kanina)
Ako: will you please delete the picture showing my license plate?

Ayaw pa rin kaso nakita nya sigurong namumula na mukha ko. So pumayag din. Tinignan ko. Mukhang na delete naman nya sa iphone nya. Nagpasalamat ako at umalis na ako. Then nasa likod ko sya parang napansin ko na nag snap na naman sya ng pic sa likod ko. Doon ko naisip na baka member ng carnap ring at ginagawa ang kanyang homework. So pinauna ko sya saka ko sinundan. Napansin nya. Naghabulan kami habang kausap ko daddy ko sa phone at pinapasulat ko plate number nya. Hahabulin ko sya hanggang sa bahay nya ang nasa isip ko then nakasalisi sya sa traffic at ako ang na stuck, so nawala ko sya.

Anyway, alam ko mali yung nakipaghabulan ako pero gusto ko lang kunin ang kanyang plate in case na may mangyari sa car ko. Paranoid ba ako dahil sa mga nakikita kung pics na naka post dito or tama lang na mag worry ako? Anyway hanap muna ako ng bagong parking spot bukas at sa mga susunod na araw.

Hehe di naman sir. Nagiging aware ako kung paano mag park sa public parking space since may tendency na gasgasin ang kotse mo dito pag asar sila sa pagpark mo.

Pa-blotter mo plate number at hitsura niya. Para at least if ever kahit na wala siyang balak na masama, at least he will be somewhat inconvenienced when police stops him.

If that's his argument, you can take a picture of him while he's taking pictures of your car. That way, he'll know you at least have a picture of him if something happens to your car.

From the TS's post, I assume he's not in Manila (or the Philippines). Anyway, i see nothing wrong in taking a picture of TS's car..even with the plate number visible in the picture...sorry...

Normally it is nothing wrong with taking a picture of a car.

Unfortunately such pictures can end up in bad places or worst, in the hands of criminals. It is almost like having your picture taken by a complete stranger (without your expressed permission) for whatever purpose he may think of.

Personally I prefer any pictures taken of my car would have my permission, otherwise I would have the same sentiments as the TS, I would like to have the pictures deleted from the camera.

based on your post I assume you have never had a car stolen from you? or have been slandered on the internet? or have had his identity stolen? there are many posibilities that he can do with the picture that has my license plate number. remember, my license plate number is my identity, as it's connected to my home address, my social security number, my driver's license #, and my driving record. to me, my safety and the security of my family take precedence over any of his darn constitutional rights.

i did not get enough sleep last night. i stayed in the living room while my son and wife were in the bed room. na double check ko at naka deadbolt yung mga locks sa baba namin at sa taas. yung automatic garage ko naka disable at naka manual lock kagabi. nagbantay ako hawak ko yung "bakal". paranoid? you bet i am. naka park din ako ngayon sa ibang parking garage (farther than my usual parking area). it's an inconvinience, but at least mas secure yung parking ko ngayon.

sir, paranoid lang kasi nanakawan na ng kotse at pati identity ko ninakaw. you would not believe my ordeal that I had to go through to clear my credit record. at saka malay mo baka may relative sya na ang trabaho ay sa department of motor vehicles. call me paranoid, but i was just exercising precautionary measures.

tinanong ko siya kung bakit nya kinuhanan ng picture ang harap ng car ko kasama na ang license plate number ko. kung binigyan ka ng sagot na, "it's my right under the constitution to take any picture i want..." instead na "i like your grille" or "i like your head light lenses and fogs" sino ang hindi magiging suspicious? lalo pa siang nagmatigas noong sinabihan ko sia na ok lang mag take ng pics pero di pwedeng kasama yung license plate number ko.

Identity theft can either be very serious, or very lame.

I've seen my photos being used by someone else on the internet posing as me. (You know who you are... XXX-888... ) I let that pass, let poseurs be poseurs... but pictures of your car can be used for many different things... EBay scams... Craigslist scams... insurance scams... etcetera. If it were an artsy fartsy front 3/4 shot... maybe harmless... but a straight, face-on shot with the license plate? Why?

Kung ako kukuha ng litrato ng kotse at masama ang intensyon ko, kukuhanan ko yun ng patago, yung walang nakakakita. Madali namang gawin yan using telephoto lense o yung mga concealed camera.

Since sabi nya right nya under the constitution na kumuha ng pic ng kotse mo, sana kinuhanan mo na rin sya ng picture nya para pag may nangyari na hindi maganda, madali na lang trace kung sino may kagagawan.

Para sa akin mas risky pa yung ginawa mong confrontation, baka merong back up o kargado yung tao, o na agitate mo kung ano pa gawin.
