Very tragic accident happened today at the SLEX Skyway. I was in deep shock to learn this..

3 kids, aged 10, 10 & 5 y/o, seated at the back not strapped on their seatbelts died when they were thrown out of the car by the impact of the crash.. And sadly the driver also succumbed to her injuries.. My deepest condolences to their Families..

    RIP.

It's weird that they could readily conclude that the accident was caused by over-speeding. Even when driving within the SCTEX legal speed limit of 80-100kph, almost any tall vehicle has a potential to flip over when mishandled... and Fortuners, for one, are a bit top-heavy.

Every parents nightmare... That's why hanggat maaari gusto ko ako magdrive para sa family ko.

bakit po SCTEX/skyway? di ba papunta ng south ang skyway?

The kids may have been playing inside enough to cause the driver to lose concentration. Madalas din ang makita ng forts with crushed roofs...

Rollover prone talaga mga cars like Fortuner. Truck base, high ground clerance tapos medyo payat... They could have survived kung meron curtain airbags...

Could it be that having a shorter wheelbase caused these types of accident?
Add to it the speed (kahit 80 lang) of the car.

Terrible accident. Condolences to the family.

Nagkamali pala ako diyan sa SLEX Skyway pala instead of SCTEX. Dalawa kase iyung nabasa ko na accidents. sa SCTEX and SLEX.

May mga survivors ata mga adults something like four or five.

Kids not wearing seatbelts and said to have been thrown out.

Driver said to have survived but in critical condition.

The unfastened kids probably a confusion inside, leading the driver to lose control of the wheel. Otherwise, this is not a case like Kenneth Quintal, who was racing his Fortuner with an Isuzu Trooper and managed to spin out, causing a whole lot of damage, injuries and a fatality to others

Its also true na shorter wheelbase is less stable... Add that with high ride and thin body...

Very sad, since it involves kids

Sabi sa update sa inquirer news, it hit the barrier and flipped over several times. Busted din yung tires pero di pa rin talaga matukoy yung cause ng accident. Pwede din na distracted nga yung driver tapos tumama sa barrier, yung busted tires maaring cause na lang nung pag flip over ng fort.

4 killed as SUV flips over Skyway
    By Miko Morelos
    Philippine Daily Inquirer
    First Posted 16:06:00 05/16/2010

MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATE) Three children and a driver were killed when a speeding sports utility vehicle flipped over along the Skyway near Sun Valley in Parañaque city, the Philippine National Construction Corp. (PNCC) said on Sunday.
Radio operator Virgilio Dupaya said the Toyota Fortuner (license plate ZMU-898) could have been running over the speed limit in the Skyway when it flipped over around 2 p.m. Sunday.
“It could have been going at over 100 kilometers per hour,” the radio operator told the Philippine Inquirer in a phone interview.
Killed from the accident include Cheryl Joy Rondon, 10; Shelimar Rakiin, 5; and Daryl Lopez, 10; were killed instantly while the 35-year-old driver, Sehawi Rakiin (not Marilyn as earlier reported), died while undergoing treatment at the Parañaque Doctors Hospital.
Dupaya added that based on their initial investigation, the driver might have lost control of the vehicle, causing her to crash into the road barrier. He said there were no other vehicles in the area at that time.
Ed Nepomuceno, Somco operations manager, said that after the SUV hit the barrier, it flipped over several times before coming to a rest upside down, nearly 100 meters away from the site of impact.
He added that one of the vehicle’s tires was busted, which might have triggered the accident.
Nepomuceno also said they were checking if the victim’s car was in a convoy with another vehicle. The victims were reportedly on their way to a theme park in Laguna when their vehicle hit the road barrier.

SUV drivers tend to feel totally safe and invincible

big vehicle, high ground clearance, see everything

nakakalimutan yata nila SUVs cannot take corners and curves as fast as a sedan

    ayan... taob
