School Project made of recycle materials, need help....

My 12yrs old daughter asking me to help her with her school project but i don't know how to make a PAROL or anything that is made of recycled materials.
Anything that is made of recyclable materials will do daw.

Yung banderitas (buntot) ng parol pwedeng gawa sa plastic cups, just cut them creatively.

Yung ring ng parol ay kawayan, you build it up para maging mataba using old newspapers. Yung 'fluffy' stuff sa paligid ay usually gawa sa Japanese paper cut in a certain way. Pero pwedeng recycled magazines (yung glossy). Mahirap kasi ipaliwanag yung pag-cut. hehehe. Pero pwede ka din gumamit ng ibang materials.

Yung star nung parol is kawayan din. Didikitan mo ng cellophane. Afterwards, pwede mo basain ng konti then hair dryer para mabanat ang cellophane (parang ginagawa kapag nagtitint sa Winterpine).

Try mo din tumambay dun sa fetcher's area ng school ng anak mo para makita mo yung mga ibang nanay/tatay/yaya na gumagawa ng projects ng mga alaga nila. hehehe.

yung pinakabody ng parol pwedeng barbeque sticks kc kawayan talaga original nun..yung cover pwedeng dyaryo tapos ipaint mo nalang para nde halatang dyaryo..den yung buntot pwedeng candy wrappers na pinagkabit kabit para colorful tingnan..or pwedeng kuha ka ng 2 empty bottles ng shampoo/c2/coke para sa buntot saka mo lagyan ng mga candy wrappers..

or pwedeng japanese parol?yung rectangular ang itsura?ang design dun pwedeng old christmas cards para magamit parin kahit matagal na..tapos yung buntot, sample principle parin..

tapos tanong mo din sa anak mo baka may idea na siya kahit konti dun sa parol na gusto niya gawin pati kung anong mga recycled materials gsto nya.

nagkaron din ako ng project na ganyan long long long time ago when I was still in primary school......shet si Marcos pa ang presidente non...

me napulot akong hubcaps...(di pa talamak non ang magwheels eh...) na 'star' and design....pinagtaob ko at tinalian ng straw ng sopdrinks na iba-iba ang kulay tapos nilagyan ko ng buntot na pantali ng sako(yung organic material) at binutasan ko yung top at tinalian ng buli....presto, me parol project na ako.....

I can still imagine yung mukha nung titser ko non, di raw kasali yon, di ko raw pinaghirapang gawin.....herherherher....sinumbong ako sa nanay ko......

Thanks sa mga reply nyo. Baka may alam kyo sa pwede kung bilan ng recycle crafts dito sa manila. Bibili nalang ako hirap kasi gawin yan wala ako tiaga sa ganyan. Hindi kasi ako tulad nyo na mga artist.

Sa Smokey Mountain at sa Alay Kapwa sa Leveriza (near Taft) merong recycled goods (mga bag na gawa sa Zesto, bracelets from old magazines). Ewan ko lang if they make Christmas themed goods. January-February kasi ako na-assign sa Leveriza dati.

I don't recommend you go to either place. Baka masaksak ka. hehehe. Baka naman may number ang Alay Kapwa sa internet.

Ito ang number ng Alay Kapwa (candles). Kaso hiwalay ata ito. May Alay Kapwa din na gumagawa ng sabon, at AK na gumagawa ng processed foods (yung sampaloc na nabibili sa 7-11). Baka alam nila kung ano ang number ng alay kapwa na gumagawa ng decorations. Pare-pareho naman silang nasa looban. [though this defeats the purpose of actually doing the project - which is to learn]

for easier recycled cxmas deco, you can make a cxmas wreath=)
1. collect old newspaper, dont choose advertisement page or the classified ads, mas madaming black ink, choose less black ink
2. gather each newspaper and crumple them, you can use a GI wire inside to make it stable, you dont need to warp the wire very firly, imagine crumpled paper and twist it, then try to achieve a round wreath with a wire as your backbone, use paste or glue or kaning lamig as glue
3. spray the wreath with water, add a little vinegar, this will act as the bleach to whiten the wreath, your final product should be gray round wreath, it should be firm
4. collect leaves and dry them, cover the whole wreath with this, its ok if your not that perfectly neat, just cover the wreath, your final outsome should be wreath cover with dry leaves.
5. make flowers out of colored straw, fold then into 2-3 inc long, tie it at he center cut the sides, the outcome should be like round sputnik, make lots of this with diff colors, preferably red and yellow
6.combine the smaller sputniks to make a bigger sputnik, imagine a bloomed flower made out of sputnik
7.tie then on the wreath and you have yourself a cxmas all recycled wreath
