Are you telling us countries dont have any self interest?

Overt or covert all countries have self interest and self preservation in mind. Obviously it will involve the weakening of their adversaries and the strengthening of their own position.

In this case...the USA argument has obviously won Germany over precisely because it aligns with Germany's own.

    Poor Russia.

yes countries have their self interest

but when your self interest goes against US self interest, they will force you to abandon your self interest

Russia from being the 2nd best Army in the world to becoming the 2nd best Army in Ukraine

Lost 50% of its missile stockpiles for no battlefield gains.

Lost 20% of its combat helicopter force

Has its airforce practically on a stalemate with Ukraine's tiny airforce

Lost hundred thousand kia or wounded

Lost thousands of tanks, APCs artillwry pieces which will take decades to replace

Lost their reputation in the battlefield

Ukraine getting stronger with more weapons and victories

NATO is getting stronger and more united

NATO countries spending more now for defense

Sweden and Finland sooner rather than later will be joining the alliance.

Lost their biggest energy customers in europe. Replaced them with China and india who are getting huge discounts with significantly more transport overhead

Lost their blackmail energy leverage on western europe

Lost their young and bright and productive citizens to other countries because of mobilization

Lost a big chunk their foreign reserves

Lost a ton of foreign investment, companies vacating russia etc.

Facing economic ruin and embargos for decades.

Lost what little freedom they have ...you hold up a blank piece of paper and you are going to jail (am sure you would love it there)

    Yes....poor Germany.

now they want Germany to send jets

now Scholz doesn't wanna send jets

this is more interesting that what's going on in the battlefield

Scholz doubles down on refusal of fighter jets for Ukraine – POLITICO
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz doubled down on his rejection of demands by Kyiv to supply Ukraine with fighter jets on the heels of Berlin’s agreement to send battle tanks.

“The question of combat aircraft does not arise at all,” Scholz said in an interview with Tagesspiegel published on Sunday. “I can only advise against entering into a constant competition to outbid each other when it comes to weapons systems.”

His comments come after a top Ukrainian official said on Saturday that Kyiv and its Western allies were engaged in “fast-track” talks on possibly sending military aircraft as well as long-range missiles to help fight the invasion by Russia.

Nukes. Thats what. Dont ever forget russia has the most nuclear warheads, submarines and aircraft that can launch them.

And russia is a mafia state with oil/gas and nukes.

Poke the bear yes. Stab it? No.

    huh?

that exactly makes Germany a pushover

Germany didn't want any of that

they didn't want to break up with russia

when Russia invaded Ukraine they only wanted to send helmets

but they needed to get with the program coz of pressure from allies

So supporting a neighbor against a much stronger bully who has nukes makes you a pushover.

In my book it makes you a hero .

    Germany succumbed to US pressure

had to reluctantly end its business relationship with russia

had its pipelines blew up and couldn't even say a word

    had to reluctantly supply weapons

a sovereign country that couldn't pursue its own goals

    that is a pushover
