August 8th, 2006 05:08 PM #13Its a 6,568-nautical mile journey, guess how much fuel it will cost to bring those 2 ships over there? Add to that the fuel it will consume ferrying our people back forth from Lebanon to Cyprus, etc. Add to that the consumables, like food, medical supplies, etc. And most of all in order to get to the Mediterranean Sea, they'd have to go through the Suez Canal. Suez Canal owners charge US$150,000.00 toll for each ship that passes through the Canal. I don't know if they give discounts for humanitarian missions or if the client will have 2 ships instead of 1.
That PHP90,000,000.00-budget doesn't look too big now, does it? I actually wonder if 90M is enough for the mission.

ilan ba ang maisasakay dyan sa 2 ships na yan?
i read in the newspaper that a Greek tycoon offered his ship to ferry 2000 pinoys from lebanon to the philippines. ang magagastos nya daw for this is US$2M.Signature

oo nga, sea worthy ba yung 2 ships? ginagawa ba religiously yung mga preventive maintenance? baka naman sakay na pauwi mga OFW tapos masiraan sa gitna ng dagat.
