Pero madaming magsasaka nagrereklamo na mababa sobra at halos walang kikitain sila sa palay. Their cost is going up. They'd rather buy rice from other countries rather than plant because it was cheaper then. Ngayon nagkaproblema sa supply...

April 11th, 2008 07:29 AM #5malapit lang kami sa NFA del monte ave. half day lang ang bentahan ng bigas pero limitado. bawat pila: 2 kilos NFA (18.25/kg) at 1 kg US RICE na tinatawag (25/kilo) sa mga may gusto.
grocery nasa 35-38/kg ang mga sinandomeng.

local production simply cannot keep up with population growth.
we will remain dependent on rice imports for a long time.
P40 per kilo rice will seem cheap a few months from now.
Govt rice subsidy is unsustainable.
