mga kapatid. dito ko na lang nilagay query ko para kita agad regarding roof rack or top loader.
papunta kasi ako ng bataan this august, kargado sasakyan by then ko so i'll be utilizing my roof rack, panigurado katerba rin mailalagay ko dito.

May height sila na maximum and if lumagpas ka dun, your vehicle will be classified as class 2, say yung kotse mo, may bike rack sa bubong, pang class 2 na babayaran mo, sa July 1 yata start nito

Any links to this dude? I want to see the mechanics.

I find it strange that they will charge vehicles with load carriers as axle weight is the main cause of deterioration to roads and not vehicle height. There was an issue on this on SLEX before as the sensors would pick up the top load of tall cars (i.e. SUVs/pick-ups with bikes and load carriers) and automatically charge anything over 6ft as class 2. They had to address this issue due to complaints.

As for top load, as long as it is not a safety concern, the NLEX and SCTEX people will not bother on it. We've been using a Thule roof box on our car during long vacation trips since 1994 and never had any problems with being accosted on these.

    hurrah for this!
if weather permits, it'll be my second time driving through NLEX. i never had any problems travelling with light loads on my roof rack via SLEX.

Based on what I have read, better to have it at the back of the vehicle because the toll rates are automatically done by sensor which checks the vehicle height. The bike on the roof will trigger the sensor to think you have a large truck/bus.

hindi kasama sa reg namin yung top load. laging nakakaligtaan and we remove it when its not in use. i noticed mas takaw sa huli yung mga delivery jeeps na may karga sa bubong, and this is within Metro Manila.

ive gone up to 160kph w my Thule roof box on the Altis. When i keep my speeds at 100kph or less, theres hardly any effect on my FC. If i go over 110kph often, automatic less 2km/l na ako sa FC.

pag basket, definitely i cant go too fast unlike pag roof box.

When it comes to brands, ive only used Thule and Travel Life so far. Thule is pricey but worth it if youre really gonna use it and load up. It has locks and is rustproof.

Oks na yan! What's important is that protects your stuff from the elements and nothing gets lose while you're driving.

regarding the new toll fee application sa NLEX that started July 1, cars with topload that exceed 7-feet will be the ones charged with class 2 fees. so i dont think bike racks on the roof will count as C2 as far as sedans go, but if you place your bike already then prepare to shell out extra. i'm not so sure about AUVS, SUVs with topload.

as for the topload registration, additional P100 payable (regardless of the topload configuration or contraption whatever) to be added and co-terminus with the car's LTO registration. its better for you to include it with the registration month, if you do the topload reg after it'll be more costly with the comptuer fee the LTO charges.

    hope this helps...

no need to register rear-mounted racks like trunk bike racks and tow-hitch mounted ones... I asked the LTO personnel when I had my roof rack registered.
