Mika, the Oprah incident doesnt align well with your question. Why? because its a HOAX. You can simply ask the members about how do they feel about RACISM without posting a HOAX. It is better to have a REAL example than posting a HOAX. And most people doesnt even read other member's reply. Therefore, it could trigger another confusion and anger.

To add, do you really think our members will say, "YES I am for RACISM." Of course they wont.

Its ironic tho, most Filipinos are PREJUDICE against their own kind and are SUPERFICIAL.

But hey, we all are entitle to our own opinion.

Kardi, point taken but one must not suggest what to delete and what is not unless it is taken into consideration congenially. The question being asked is "Racism: are you against it?" simply pointing to the direction of the "Hilfiger" story and related to "racism" per se. The "Hilfiger" story maybe a product of marketing wars or even "racial" indignation on the part of the creator of the hoaxed story, Hence, the title "racism: are you against it?".

It is not intended to give credence to the story nor the BA Story but to what "racism" can do. Probably my post was taken out of context or maybe I misjudged & incorrectly posted the wrong subject matter.

Yes, perhaps you are right that no one here in Tsikot will admit that they're racial, but, we have to take into consideration other people who acts and behaves like one. The thread merely acts as a medium to vent our ire against racism and other forms similar to it. Discrimination or prejudice based on race still exist even today.

"The greatest friend of truth is TIME, her greatest enemy is PREJUDICE, and her constant companion HUMILITY."

For Pinays/Pinoys whose counterpart are Chinese:

If the Chinese boy/girl is hesitant to acknowledge or marry you because her family/clan doesnt approve then dont bother with em. You love someone because of their whole being. If they arent brave enough to acknowledge or even marry you then they're not worth it. They can give you a million reason but if the answer is "no" then look elsewhere.

    Mahirap naman pumilit ng ayaw.

Why not? Its my opinion and like I said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Did you really think I was asking them to delete this thread? Even if they deleted this thread, would it be my fault? Im pretty sure mods/admin have their own mind to do whatever they wish.

    This thread is WORTH deleting.
It is but it wasnt deleted. Point taken and lets move on. (geez, I sounded like the democrat's website moveon.org) :hihihi:

I say we need to do our share para masawata itong problem na ito.

for me it's a little more clear. if someone does or says something that puts you at a disadvantage or makes you feel uncomfortable because of your ethnic origin, it is at the very least discrimination, and possibly racism as well.

    for example:

your co-worker making a joke about all Pinoys being either nurses or japayukis

a more qualified white person not getting into college because slots are held open for minorities (yes, i know they call this 'affirmative action' where i live)

a Chinese parent making fun of or disapproving of their children's friends/lovers because of their race (sorry sa matamaan, but this is what i believe)

btw, i certainly hope no one comes on here and says, "no, i am for racism!" :bwahaha:

I am pure chinese, and Im totally for keeping culture and traditions as alive as possible (who isnt?), but, I have to admit some chinese traditions are just crap, and no matter what anybody else says here, marrying a non-chinese for whatever reason is a form of racism or stereotyping. di mo pa nga nakikita in-laws mo pano mo nasabing di kayo magkakasundo? To say that its a chinese tradition or culture is also bull, not all traditions should be kept IMO bec some, like this one is obviously worth throwing away. for our filipino and non-chinese friends here, I will give you an example, in chinese, filipinos are called "Hua na", literal translation? taong bundok. We call ourselves "Lan Lang" meaning? Tayo Tao. And this is how they "separate" themselves from non-chinese, we are humans, and they are mountain folks. And this term is still being used today (obviously without knowing its real meaning) by most chinese. Now, if that isnt racism in its highest form, ewan ko lang.

But Im not here to step on my own race, Im againts racism in general, and it is a must for me to point out my race's own disillusionment in the disguise of tradition and culture. The Filipino culture in general, is also a victim to these discrimination which we tolerate to the point of seeing humor in it. example, we make fun of the ugly, the unanos, the baklas and all those who do not conform to our notion of "normal". binabatukan, tinatapon sa pool, nilalait ang itsura, lets face it, how many people have become famous in showbiz not because of their talents but bec of their "ugliness"? If you are really againts racism/stereotyping/discrimination, we should not be tolerating these kinds of behavior/shows/movies, and please, dont ever say "e filipino culture yan e", because thats a load of crap.

tanong lang...para dun sa ibang may traditional chinese family... kase...kung alam naman na traditional yung family bat pa nanliligaw ng non chinese? *wondering*
Example..yung isa kong cousin...after 3 years or so nakipagbreak ang howe...after a couple of months may bago ng howe, chinese na this time. Same for this close friend i have may howe for 2 years tumagal pa sila in the end sinabi ng guy nde nya kaya pagtanggol yung girl sa parents nya kaya wag na umasa na may future sila and he wasn't even man enough to say it in her face. He cheated on her in order for her to get the message... diba? manligaw na lang ng kaparehas ng tradition kung ganun pala... could have saved some time and could have spared some heartaches here and there...just thinking aloud. OT sorry!

ako dati lagi ko binibiro mga fil-chinese classmates ko, "pre, paturo naman ng karate oh?, cge na!" d ko alam racist pala yun, not because pang-Japan pala yun karate at pang KungFu yun sa Chinese. but because I stereotyped all people
with Chinese origins as magagaling sa kungfu.

d ko alam naka-kaoffend pala yun. oh well, I've had my share of being a racist. hehehe

I have friends who works in the airline here in HK and they told me that the most difficult people to handle are the Jews.

Hehe ganyan talaga sila. Its their culture. Hirap talaga ka-debate mga yan lalo na sa meeting. Nakow!

I think its just a matter of learning and knowing their culture. Pati mga kano, meron talaga un hindi naexpose sa ibang cultures or atleast have not interacted with any other culture or race. kaya once na makatrabaho mo sila, iba yun dating.

RACISM: are you against it?
