    Summer,

Kailangan dapat nasa iyo ang original CR and latest OR ng kotse. Original CR & closed deed of sale(notarized) ang real proof of ownership mo. Mas maganda na nasa name mo yung car para you can insure your car in case of accidents. Mahirap mag claim pag wala sa name mo yung OR/CR. Open "deed of sale" are discouraged by the LTO unless you are a buy & sell salesman or balak ibenta ulit yung car. Isabay mo na sa registration for this year(OR) and transfer of ownership(CR) para lsang lakad nalang para nakalagay na sa OR ang name mo after ma transfer yung ownership sa iyo.

    Hope this helps.

Hindi ka hinanapan ng DOS kasi check point lang naman pero pag ikaw ay nag ka major accident, you need to have with you your original Deed Of Sale, photocopy of CR/OR to have it as proof of ownership since you have not transfered the CR to your name. As I ive said, it is discouraged by the LTO na open ang deed of sale and not having it transfered to your name. Ang alam ko, ang LTO ay meron na ngayon prescription period(deadline) for new owners to transfer their name sa CR or else bayad ng malaking fine.

Bottom line here is the liability of the vehicle is the reason why you should transfer it to your name.

Mabuti naman kung ganon! Good for you bro. Yes.

By the way, I'm also talking about third party liabilty din. :D
