    i'm planning to "convert an old aluminum kaldero into a BBQ grill; is this a good idea? ung concern ko kasi is that aluminum is highly reactive to other substances; takot ko baka me maproduce na lason once it comes into contact with burning coal/gaas, etc

    la kasi akong makitang matinong stainless steel grill B)

    Im not sure about the aluminum pero I think di sya issue dahil di naman reactive ang aluminum. It's common practice din naman to put food in foils and just dump them on top of the coals, so I doubt na may issue.

    Regading grill, saw a Coleman grill (charcoal lang) sa Mega the other day, 8K ata, ganda, laki ng surface area at malalim yung tapunan ng coals.

    If you want to be sure, mag grill ka ng bbq, liempo, chicken, pusit, tilapia, bangus, then invite mo kami to try it out. :D

    We're already doing this. I think it's safe. We are all still alive and healthy.

    tama,napakadelikado yan pag nakain ang aluminum ,,wala naman sigurong masama pag ginawang grill ang aluminum kaldero dahil doon naman tayo nagluluto ng mga pagkain natin,,in contact with other substances,siguro naman by the time na ilagay mo yong bbq ay clear na yong gaas na ginamit..

    sure! magaling ako sa ihawan; i can take perfectly good skewers of meat and turn them into meat-flavored charcoal :D

    ganun nga ang nangyari the last time i grilled. sobrang babaw kasi ung ihawan, the bbq skewers were virtually sitting on the charcoal. e di pa maganda magpatuhog, andaming lumalaylay kaya lalong nasunog

    marami nabibiling kaldero at kaserola na made in aluminum at pag ginamit mo ito direct contact siya sa apoy at sa mismong food at wala pa namang napapabalitang namatay na cause nito. sa ganang akin walang possibling side effect ito sa health mo, pag ginawa mong ihawan,tip sa sap assemble mo ng ihawan, maraming nabibiling mga parilla with handle sa palengke, kung meron kang extra budget 2 ang bilhin mo. pagsamahin mo sila securing with wire sa isang side para pag gagamitin mo iipitin nito ang inihaw, para kung babaligtarid mo ang iniihaw mo madali na yun mismong parilla na ang babaliktarin mo, at kung umapoy man madali mong maaalis yung inihaw mo, nakasecure ang inihaw mo sa mga gustong dumukot sa niluluto mo.

    what we did is hinati namin ang isang drum tapos nilagyan ng rocks. ayun.. ok naman so far.

    safe, maganda at matibay ang used steel rim ng tsikot.
    mga 13" steel rim pwede na, available ito sa junk shop.

    parang gusto ko tuloy ng inihaw ngayong lunch? :-)

    me nakita nga akong ganito dati, very impressed with it, mukhang pang heavy duty talaga. pero naghahanap sana ako ng di kalawangin; minsan minsan lang kasi kami umiihaw



    sir raine, parilla = grill? me nakita na rin akong ganito sa SM/robinsons, quite handy actually. kaso karamihan hugis isda kasi B) would be interesting to grill chicken this way, cut daing style(parang sa polo loco dati)

    drum din ang balak ko na gawing ihawan. kaso mashado malaki yung mga normal na drums

    pero last weekend, nakakita na ako ng medium sized na drum. about 18"wide, tapos around 3ft ang taas. perfect sana for may use.


    ang problem ko, I'm concerned with the chemicals that were stored i those drums. dun sa bilihan, may blue tapos white na drums. yung white, may nakalagay pa na "danger: poison". pero yung blue na kukunin ko na sana, wala naman nakalagay.

    ok lang kaya yung mga yun?...

    another question: yung parilya na ilalagay ko dun sa drum-grill-project ko (hehe) ano kaya mas ok? - stainless o yung tulad sa mga high end grills na cast iron (problem lang is san pwede magpagawa nun)

    imho, stainless would last longer, won't rust, and probably not as reactive as plain iron.
