Tamiya used to be MRC-Tamiya. I think MRC denoted extra attention to detail. I think it's now MRC-Academy. But, I still prize Tamiya models. Hasegawa is also another excellent model company, probably even better than Tamiya. Their prices have tripled since the last time I remembered buying one.

I still have a bunch of scale models from the past that I have yet to assemble. Most are in NV. Here's a small stash here. Some of them are also "extinct" like that original Millenium Falcon from Return Of The Jedi.
Nice collectibles ha got Tamiya F-18 Hornet before, even assembled a Harrier jet use by the British during the Falkland war... is it the F-4 Phantom... I forgot the brand But now I'm collecting some Dragon 12" action figures

A lot of the scale model companies I knew as a kid in the US included:

    Lindbergh Lines
    Aurora
    MPC
    Revell
    Monogram

Of those, only the last 2 are still alive.

Then we moved to the Philippines, I got exposed not just to those above but also to the following:

    Matchbox
    Hasegawa
    MRC-Tamiya
    Fujimi
    Otaki
    Airfix
    Heller
    Italeri
    Testors

Back then, there was actually better variety of scale models in the Philippines than in the US.

I think all are still alive except for Otaki.

Add: I used to have every major Japanese WW2 fighter planes made by Otaki a long time ago (boxed and unassembled). But when I shipped my stuff to Korea, they mysteriously vanished. The Korean shippers said they got smashed and said they'll reimburse me for them, which they did. But, I found it strange that while all my Japanese aircraft got smashed, none of the other models (including the Millenium Falcon) were broken. Just goes to show the rivalry that simmers around.....

I liked models by Matchbox. Not too detailed but very clean fit. Before I graduated to Tamiya and Hasegawa, I practiced on the 1:72 models from Matchbox.

I also liked models by ESCI (Italian brand). Di gaano kaganda yung quality nito..but they did put out lots of models that the other brands didn't. And they were cheap.

    Other stuff:
    • Nova Fontana at Shoppesville!
    • Super Trump cards
    • Mister Winkle (Corn chips... kalaban ng Granny Goose)

Is that a hobby shop? Back in the early 80's, between the Quad Theaters and Rustans'(?) in Makati, there was a hobby shop called Fontana, I think. There was a very tall and slender Pinay probably 20 years older than me. I had a big crush on her...... I wonder if it's her (or family) that owns it. She's probably all wrinkled now...... But....

I think Matchbox came out late in scale models e, they are well known for their small metal cars, still have some of them, original made in UK without box

Sorry if I looped the discussion out on a tangent. But, scale models were the only brands I can remember because I loved the hobby.

    Mga disco Bar like:

    Zigzag
    Rumors
    Stargazer sa Silahis Hotel
Lost Horizon sa Phil Plaza Hotel

Tapos sikat na DJ si John Robinson

Uso rin Mag Tonning with Johnny Midnite

Product brands that you have grown up with, but are now extinct(not in the limelight)
