Taxi drivers slam LTFRB

A GROUP of taxi operators and drivers yesterday expressed strong objection to the memorandum of the Land transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board requiring taxis to issue receipts to passengers.

The new LTFRB order, which was issued on November 15, will take effect January next year.

In a press briefing, Philippine National Taxi Operators Association president Bong Suntay said that the meter issuing receipts would be an additional burden to them since it costs P12,000 to P14,000 each.

Suntay said they will ask Transportation and Communications Secretary Leandro Mendoza to junk the memorandum of the LTFRB.

"Pakikiusapan namin ang gobyerno na huwag nang ipatupad ito for practical reasons. Masyado nang mahirap ang lagay ng transport sector dahil sa taas ng presyo ng gasoline at E-VAT, huwag na sanang idagdag pa ang ganitong hakbang," he said.

Once the DoTC rejects the appeal, they will bring the issue to court by filing a petition for a temporary restraining order, Suntay added.

it's high time na mga taxis na mag-issue sila ng receipt para ma-monitor ng gobyerno ang income nila. sobrang unfair na kasi yun they clog the streets more often than private vehicles pero walang concrete proof na nagbabayad ng tama para sa gobyerno.

but the metering system, 12k to 14k medyo mahal ata naman. not unless thermal printer yun ala POS at tatak IBM hehehe. sa ibang countries ba ganito din ang mga taxis

ayaw lang masira ang systema nila na nakaka-singil na kung anu-ano sa mga pasahero. The burden would be on the operators and not the drivers. If they could afford to buy a car to make it into a taxi, buying a printer would be easy.

Dapat lang na merong resibo ang taxis. Actually, dapat nga lahat ng public transportation facilities ay nagbibigay ng resibo. It is one way to have proof that you paid the correct fare.

Since taxis ang pinaka-abusado sa lahat pagdating sa singilan ng pamasahe, the more the government should require them to issue receipts in support of public interest.

Saka isa pa, nag-de-declare ba ng income tax ang mga taxi driver? Hindi naman, diba?

Sa Shanghai China nag-i-issue ng resibo ang mga taxi.

the passenger will benefit kasi parang proof of purchase yan, at least, may habol ang mga passenger in case of any problem. sana asa resibo din ang pangalan ng taxi operator, taxi driver and so on. sana nga lang mura ang printer na yan, sobra ang 10k.

For me DAPAT LANG MAG ISSUE NA CLA NG RESIBO. Tayo ngang ordinary employee may tax eh. sila din dapat!! kumikita cla kya dapat patawan din sila ng tax. Tapos sila pa ang cost ng trafic, pagkasira ng kalsada(kc sila madalas gumamit nun.) pollution at marami pang problema sa kalsada.

PERO ang inaangal ng mga taxi operators e masyado mahal ang meter. at P14k per unit kita na ng isang taxi yun for 1 month.

as for those saying na hindi nagbabayad ng tax ang mga operators, ano proof nyo? ask ko lang, makakapag-register ba ang taxi operator kung walang ITR? kala nyo dami binabayaran para maka-rehistro ng taxi. every year yun hahanapin ang ITR bago magrehistro. walang income tax payment kahit umiyak ka pa sa ltfrb hindi irerehistro unit mo. nasa isip nyo siguro private car, hindi po. iba po ang systema ng rehistro ng PUV.

for operators, sa 26 operating days per month at P1k per day, minus operating expenses (maintenance of unit), DEPRECIATION EXPENSE, registration fees, insurance, e sasabihin ko sa inyo maswerte na kung umabot ng 15k (net income po ha hindi gross income) ang kita per month. ang innitial investment dyan ay umaabot ng P650k per unit (cost of car, meter, painting, franchise, re-registration for yellow plate) so ang ROI sa 15k per month is less than 1 (180K per year/650K). and the unit needs to be replaced after 10 years. kayo kaya mag-operate ng taxi tignan ko kung hindi mamuti buhok nyo sa bagong palakad ng ltfrb ngayon.

imagine nyo na lang na walang taxi sa metro manila kasi. san kaya kayo sasakay pag coding kotse nyo? sa bike lane ni fernando?

karamihan po ng small taxi operators ay mga retirees. yun ang napipili nilang negosyo dahil hindi na nila kaya mag-asikaso ng negosyo na nakatayo maghapon. yung retiree na 70 years old e imbes na ibili nya ng gamot at pagkain yung 14k na yan e mapupunta pa sa lintek na meter. kayo ba na malakas pa ang mga tuhod uunahin nyo bilihin ang meter kesa sa gamot at bigas?

pag may travel ang isang empleyado ng gobyerno.meron silang sariling format ng resibo...gagawa sila ng bogus na plate number, fake na signature(taxi driver), at fake na amount...biruin nyo yung iba by public bus lang pag pumunta ng airport pero naka declare sa receipt nag taxi sya...

I honestly dont think local taxis charge enough (flag down rate)... but what I dont like is a lot of cabs (esp mga smaller companies) have doubtful meters and madalas din na lugi ka coz bulok yung cab at mahina ang aircon sobra.

In terms of metering, pansin ko lang whenever I take a cab from the house to office, pag mga sakay ko larger companies mas mababa fare ko kesa mga unknown cabs (not all of course).

Okay lang magresibo taxi. kasi kailangan talaga lalo na pag-reimbursement of transpo. Kaya lang wrong timing if they really insisting on metered receipts. Resibo na lang na papel na registered sa BIR, oks na iyon. Anyway, hindi naman lahat nanghihingi ng resibo. in Singapore, all taxis are required to print reciepts, pero pagbaba ng pasahero tinatapon lang. Para matakot din abusadong driver na nangongontrata kesa magmetro. kawawawa pasahero, kawawa operator.

sa singapore can afford sila na ganun taxi meters nila. kasi po ang flag down sa singapore ay S$2.50. multiply nyo yan ng P34/S$ = P85 flag down. tapos per 150 meters 10 cents = P3.40. ganun kaya gawin natin sa pilipinas, flag down P85 tapos every 150 meters e P3.40 ang patak? pag yan ok sa inyo ok na din sa amin yang P14k na meter with receipt.

so ok ba sa inyo flag down P85 saka P3.40 per 150 meters na rate? pag ok sa inyo ako na mauuna magpakabit ng meter na may receipt.
