I'm against child ****ography.

:praning:

Will the authorities know the computers contain child ****ography if they did not power the computers on? What a hassle if everyone in business class will be asked to switch on their laptops to search for illegal **** before they get past immigration.

So I guess the best solution then if you will be travelling is to encrypt your hard drive with a software encryption tool. I don't think they will torture you to reveal your password, would they?

DoctorDoom, some or most countries prohibits encryption softwares.

Pati MP3 player, you will be asked to power it up.

Kahit before 9/11 ganito na sa Airport, AFAIK. A motivated criminal can put something inside the electronic device to inflict harm. (i.e. a custom single shot pistol can fit inside the CD Player.)

Id rather have that privacy taken away from me as opposed to jeopardizing my security.

Usually, people who asks for search warrants are the ones who are hiding something illegal. If you refused and asked for a search warrant, they can always use your refusal to obtain a search warrant.

    For 2 reasons:

    (1) Not everyone has a phone line at home (especially in the provinces),
    much less high-speed internet.

    (2) It's too hassle to upload or download a 700 Mb **** when DVDs are
very cheap nowadays. And besides, if you download ****, you still
have to burn it to be able to watch it on your TV-DVD system.
So you need to buy a DVD Burner, DVD Burning Software, and blank
DVD discs. Hassle! If your balls are already itching and you have
to go - then you have to go NOW! right?

p.s. I find the pirated **** market in Pinas as low quality. Many videos they sell are the senseless compilation stuffs or the boring boy-meets-girl-wham-bam-press-the-eject-button-go-to-sleep type of videos.

before we judge the two kabayans, read the entirety of the text.

"At the hearing, the two seafarers said they had no knowledge that the alleged ****ographic materials were in the computers. They said that they bought the computers second-hand in Japan."

Guilty until proven innoncent yata ang ginamit natin ah, hehehe.

They ask everyone to turn it on, but the thorough checking is ramdom. Besides, there's only a few people in business class who have their laptops with them.

    AFAIK

In my last trip to Hong Kong last week on Cathay Pacific, nearly everyone of us sitting at business class had our laptops open during the entire flight. So case-to-case basis.

Is it everyone or nearly everyone?

    Kapatid,

You answered your own query, good for you.

:hihihi:

Yes, everyone. Because I was referring to the scene when everyone is lining up at the immigration/customs counter. Everyone is asked, but only those who are actually carrying laptops can obviously comply.

Yup, nearly everyone. Because I was referring to the scene inside the aircraft if you walk along the isle in business class. Nearly everyone had their laptops open. Some of the passengers were asleep.

i didn't know some countries made you boot up your laptop at the security check...i travel a lot internationally and in the US and i've never been asked to power it on - although they do xray it separately. never been to Burma though.
