Hi peeps. Just a bit of info for folks headed up north via McArthur Highway... the bridge at the boundary of Paniqui and Moncada in Tarlac province is being repaired, so there's a detour at the foot of the bridge.

At night, it's easy to miss the warning signs as they are positioned very near the bridge already, so try to go slow when you approach this area.

Here's a pic for your reference:

We passed by the bridge last night around 7, and we didn't notice any barangay tanod or safety personnel. Of course, it was very dark so we could have just missed him.

The only highly visible warning sign at night is the big red flashing arrow (see picture), but I don't know if they keep it on throughout the night.

The detour is just parallel to the bridge being repaired, you turn a bit left or right as you approach the foot of the bridge. The detour is just a dirt road, as seen in this photo, so it is advisable to slow down here.

Also, the guide signs along the curve don't have lights on them, and I'm not sure if they're even reflectorized, so exercise caution if you pass here at night.

This is a photo of the temporary bridge. Exciting 'no, may mga pedestrian pa na nakatambay sa gilid nya.

I just got back from Quezon City last night.

Meron din palang detour paglabas mo ng NLEX kung sa Mabalacat ka dadaan. It's right before the smooth stretch of highway before the good-looking bridge between Mabalacat and Bamban. Ano din lang sya, liko ng konti sa kaliwa kung galing ka ng QC. The roadwork is due to the Subic-Clark-Tarlac expressway project.

For those heading further north, ther are also some stretches of McArthur Highway that are undergoing road widening now. These include portions of the road in Tarlac City and Urdaneta. Ingat na lang po, lalo na kung gabi kayo dadaan. May isang owner type jeep na nahulog sa hukay dito sa Urdaneta dahil walang harang o marker yung diggings sa ibang lugar.

    Edited to add:

Here's what some parts of McArthur Highway in Tarlac look like as of yesterday morning. There are diggings after you pass Metrotown Mall and up to the Tarlac City-Gerona boundary.

What really gets my goat is that the DPWH started these diggings right before the major exodus of commuters during the All Soul's weekend. Sana naman matapos nila yung trabaho nila bago mag-uwian ang mga tao, kundi dagdag na naman sa trapik yan.
