It's possible.
You get P910i firmware functions like 1GB memstick support, HTML mail, brightness control as well as bundled Quick Office & a few other software that comes with the P910i.
The phone is open lined as well.
The screen brightness control is a big battery saver, setting it at 20% brightness almost doubles the battery life before needing to recharge.

December 26th, 2004 07:19 PM #3Yup, wala nga.
It extends the P900's functions more than anything else.
With P900s going for around 20-25k & P910i's at 37k, upgrading the firmware in that manner is like getting a bargain P910i.
I compared a P900 a P910i side by side.
Speed is about the same.
Screen is still 65k colors unless in full screen mode(according to SE white paper).
I haven't compared the screen resolution in that manner since I only found out about the full screen 265k mode after I had returned the P910i.
When I did the comparison(non full screen mode) there didn't seem to be any difference in the color resolution.
I've heard that you can retrofit a P910i Qwerty pad onto the P900, haven't seen one yet though.
I think doing so wouldn't be practical as the qwerty keypad adds another few thousand & if that's the case might as well go for a real deal P910i.
For me I think the firmware upgrade is good enough.

December 27th, 2004 02:50 PM #5odell,
Yung prices ng P900 I mentioned are used units that I see advertised, actual maybe lower.
Usually nasa 24-26k range & nagkakatalo na lang kung ano yung kasama.
I got mine for 24k & it came with the original packaging as well as a screen protector & a 128mb memstick.
I've upgraded the firmware.
I've set my screen brightness at 20-30% & practically doubles battery life.
I no longer need to charge everyday or worry about draining the battery before the day ends.
The bundled QuickOffice is a bonus too as it resides in flash.
Drawbacks,
The conversion makes the P900/910 hybrid choosy about which BT headsets it'll work with, so if you've already got a BT headset this may not be for you.
Other than that I haven't found any othere BT issues(it bonds with my Palm, another P900/P910i, BT dongle, N6600)Last edited by Auto_Xer; December 27th, 2004 at 03:03 PM.
