Most likely they will not charge you for the item but MAYBE for shipping. Sa pagka alam ko $10 & below no duties. I think it is worth the effort.

I used to order bluray movies on Amazon. I placed the order and checked out the same way but there were times when they were shipped at home and other times i had to pick it up at the post office. I didn't notice it on the website (Amazon) but is it stated there if it would be delivered to your door or at the post office?

I remember paying 200/300 yata each for a $3 tempered glass screen protector, $6 Google Cardboard, $2 TPU phone case. Hiwa hiwalay yan btw. Nakakainis talaga pag mas mahal pa binayaran sa post office vs sa item na binili mo they ask the value then dun ata nila i assess yung fee na babayaran mo sa Customs, so I take screenshots of the site where I buy them.

Does anyone know if I will still be charged by customs since the item is just a gift? There is a note for me to bring paypal or credit card bill e I have none. Now I am wondering if it is still worth picking up.
if the item was locally sourced, there should be no customs duty.
but you may be charged post office fees.

They have a manual where they have the schedule of duties, depending on the classification of the item. Agricultural items would have lower duties. Commonly imported items are cell phones, shoes etc are assessed higher since it is available locally, like those you brought in. Overall, after the. let of the item, the shipping & customs duties, would turn out cheaper if bought locally. This is why I try to look for those that offer free shipping. Try buying through eBay from HK or Korea. Some of them offer free shipping.

Customs would normally ask for PayPal receipt. Is it possible for the vendor to give you a PayPal receipt with a smaller amount? How will you tell him?

As I recall, if the vendor uses a Gov't courier (like USPS, EMS or Royal Mail), you have to get it in the Post office. Clue mo run kung mura yung shipping. Kung mahal, door to door yun.

The case was declared as a gift by the seller (written on the package) but I still paid for the fee then free shipping na nga din most of the sellers. I only buy online (Aliexpress/eBay) if I couldn't find one here, lalo na accessories ng not so popular phones.

I picked up my package at the postal office today. It was very quick and took me less than 30 minutes.

The airline declared the value of the gift (MAGLITE Solitaire) as GBP9.17. Initially they were asking me for PAYPAL but I told them it was just a reward item. They had an excel file that calculated the cost of the tax (I wish I had a copy of that)

    Here is the breakdown:

Value of Merchandise in Peso PHP667.87

    Import Duty P47
    VAT P88
    BIR Doct Stamp P15
Total P150 (The excel file was only P149. I think they did not want to give change )

    Phil Post Fee P100

    TOTAL PAYMENT: P250

Not bad. If I bought a MAGLITE solitaire here in Manila, it would definitely cost more than P250. In the US it'll cost me equivalent to P450.

I have enough mileage to get a Tablet but they might tax me so much for it? Kasi almost 25% ang tax nila e

I got the tools I bought online today. I got assessed 12k duties for it! I nearly fainted from the shock! Good thing I kept my cool & negotiated. I got a hefty discount at least.
