Search on for nuclear materials stolen from Manila factory

PHILIPPINE regulators appealed to the public for help in the search for three capsules containing radioactive substances that were pilfered from a disused factory.
The capsules with the radioactive gas Krypton-85 were apparently stolen from the Paper City Corp. compound in northern Manila earlier this year, said Teofilo Leonin, chief of the government's nuclear regulatory assessment unit.
Exposure to Krypton-85 can cause third-degree burns, said Leonin whose unit inspects licensed users of such equipment.
The capsules were used to measure the thickness and density of paper. The factory closed more than a year ago amid a court case.
It is possible that those who took the equipment did not know what it contained and were hoping to sell it to a scrap dealer, Leonin said.
i wonder how many more factories in the metro have these materials?????

If it's used for measuring thickness and density of paper, then other paper mills would most probably have them.

hindi naman super-toxic yung krypton na yan eh. that's just a radioactive gas (and not too radioactive at that). even your run-of-the-mill smoke detector has americium-141 (a radioactive metal) inside them.

sus... yun lang pala. I think the former factory owner was remiss in not properly securing or selling the equipment.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
Puwede i try, 1. Palit air filter 2. Linis throttle body 3. Linis MAF sensor 4. Check spark...
