I have 3 loyal askals ready to tear the flesh of an intruder , mahirap ang gun, di mo masabi accidents, sa panahon ngayon, maliban sa immediate members of family mo, aso lang ang siguradong di ka ipagkakanulo;)

Yup, pareho tayo. Tatlo din yung trusted askals ko. And balak ko pang paramihin.

've been doing some research on home defense and what i've been told is that a shotgun is the best option - big stopping power and not much chance of penetrating the bad guys or walls and hitting someone you don't want to hit.

make sure you know how to use it, and make sure you will always have time to get it and be ready when you detect an intrusion. it would really suck if your own gun was used on you...and keep it safe from kids! good luck...
So true, nasa report yan sa US na kahit well trained policemen can only hit their targets mga 30% of the time when under sudden stress, what more sa civilian. Shot gun just point and shoot.

Pero that is if you get to the gun, most cases matataranta ka and if the gun is stored properly (safe, locked, out of children's reach), you won't get the chance to use it. Main reason why I didn't get a gun even if madaming good offers... Alangan naman naka holster lagi baril diba.

Isa pa, imagine 6 sila, matodas mo yung isa, may 5 pa.

Your best bet is still preventing the entry in the first place...

SSaloon: really freaky story, nakakapraning for parents like us... kung bachelor pa wala kang pake masyado. Nasa subdivision ba kayo? House or townhouse?

pag shotgun bilhin mo pare e get the "tactical load" ammunition. "tactical load" is actually less powerful than standard load, pero for sure di matatakot gamitin ng female members ng family mo. especially when all of you get training in using it. another thing, a standard load when fired inside the house can make you temporarily deaf, thus you will be stunned. pag "tactical load" di masyado malakas ang putok. less flash pa if fired during the night, so hindi masyado affected ang night vission ng eyes mo.

also if the female members of your household are afraid to use a 12 gauge shotgun, consider a semi-auto .22 magnum rifle for them.

hmmm preventive measure lang dapat, PRO-ACTION is always a good bet than RE-ACTION always check everything 10 times para sure.
