Classes at all levels will be suspended until Friday in Marikina after the city was badly beaten by tropical storm "Ondoy."

This was announced by city mayor Maria Lourdes Fernando over radio dzBB Monday afternoon.

Clean-up operations have been on-going in the city where homes, roads, and other infrastructure remained covered with mud, according to the mayor.

“All classes in grade school, high school, and college are suspended starting today until Friday, October 2, to give way to the rescue and restoration operations in the city of Marikina," said Fernando in a separate news bulletin.

The advisory was forwarded via email by Niel Mugas from Team Bayani, the camp of Fernando’s husband, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chair Bayani Fernando.

On Sunday, Education Secretary Jesli Lapus said classes in Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite and Sta. Rosa, Laguna will be suspended until Tuesday.
