Blast rocks The Fort in Taguig; 1 killed - police
    12/15/2009 | 01:00 PM

(Updated - 1:32 pm) An explosion rocked The Fort Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City Tuesday afternoon killing at least one who was inside a car.

Authorities received a report on the incident at about 12 noon, Police Officer 3 Dex Cabrera told GMA News.TV in a telephone interview.

He said the blast took place on 11th Avenue in front of Serendra mall and Fully Booked bookstore.

Blogger Judd Sta. Maria who witnessed the incident said he saw the car entering Serendra basement when the vehicle suddenly blew up. "I think the car was going down to the parking area," he said in an interview with a television station.

The cause of the explosion has not yet been determined by authorities as of posting time. -Mark Merueñas, TJ Dimacali, ARCS, GMANews.TV

Condolences to the victim's family. Looking at the pictures only, it seems that the explosion or fire originated from the car rather than being detonated from outside of it.

I know! I've seen several cars on TV that went on fire (engine area) but this one is really bad.

Yup, looking at the roof and doors of the car, plus the condition of the rest of the car (hood, trunk), the explosion came from the inside of the car's cabin.

    Foul play?

From mythbusters, heck no! Not without outside help (a few meters of detonation cord with a couple gallons of gasoline).

Possible ba na ganito ang pagsabog kung hindi bomb ang dahilan? Nakakatakot naman kung wiring lang ang dahilan. Hindi rin naman siguro lpg converted ito dahil fuel efficient na itong car na ganito.

Effects of explosion is too small for a terror plot as the body of the car is still intact.

Assassination is more likely. Either that or the person is carrying some sensitive chemicals/materials.

Oo nga... pag pinoy ang mga hitman, usually motorcycle rider tapos babarilin at point blank. No graymatter involved. Mukhang pinlano talaga ito kung sakaling hit nga.

Parang scene sa CSI ah. Maybe a combustible/flammable material was ignited from the inside kaya mabilis lumakas yung apoy.

Kawawa naman yung owner. From the pics, kita ko pa buto niya.

Buo pa naman yung frame ng kotse, the headlights and tailights weren't even busted, and so does the engine - it wasn't even blown ! - however the interior was burnt all through out.

Yes, this can be a foul play. It wouldn't blow or put the car in fire in just a second if it's just a thinner or a faulty lpg wirings.

Baka may bomba sa loob na tinago, tas dinetonate.

There's one good thing that happened though ... at least it wasn't detonated inside the basement parking ... or else.

Oh by the way, condolence to the family and R.I.P to the driver.

Not sure it is related but there was a report in the BMW forum that a flooded BMW burst into flames in Pasig a couple of weeks back. Not sure if confirmed either but was posted in their threads.
