The connection with the older Supe movies was gone except maybe for the fact that Superman unknowingly bore a son with Ms. Lane then walked away for x years. I remember in the last movie, Ms. Lane already knows that Clark and Supe is the same person. That concept seemed lost in the new Supe movie.
