    It's not exactly a new fad. I'm used to seeing those scarves being sported by journalists who have been to Mindanao assignments, similar to what morrisey_05 pointed out. They've been doing that for years already, ngayon lang siguro nauso for street use.

    dude, it is a new fad. what you're talking about is reporters trying to fit in since gamit talaga sa mindanao yan. it is a fad since nagiging pamporma and fashion statement sya dito sa manila for people trying to look cool.

    personally, i think it looks stupid. buti sana kung nauso sya during the colder months kaso ang init ng panahon ngayon eh.

    It seems like I'm the only one who hasn't seen a guy wearing a fashion scarf. Where do these people hang out? I'm often at the mall naman but I don't see any. hehe.

    baka naman sa mga upscale malls ka tumatambay! try mo sa metrowalk or ortigas home depot on a friday evening... or sa mga arcade sa SM Megamall or SM City North EDSA... dami nagkalat na teen-agers na naka-shemag

    *cathy for you -- though I haven't seen these yet back home and find out for myself whether it's a trend or not, I'd suggest just look in the tv. seen alot of news reporters sporting this too even if they're not covering news in the mountains, etc. -- i.e. urban news.

    I guess, if it's any consolation though, let's be glad they haven't turned the sniper's veil into a "fashion" trend yet. :-D
