Nawalan na kayo ng brakes?

Anybody here ever had their brakes give while driving?

Happened to me last Friday night while driving home doing around 110Kph along SLEX at around 2.30am. There was very little traffic until I got to Sucat where I saw a number of trucks ahead - although not on my lane. I decided to slow down a bit by tapping the brake pedal. Kaso, when I tapped the pedal there was no resistance - sumagad almost sa floor yung pag-apak ko - and, of course, di nag-slow down yung car.

First reaction was understandably "oh sh1t!" while my heart jumped to my throat and my body felt cold all over. Then instinct kicked in and I started downshifting. Only when I got to a more manageable speed - around 30-40kph - did I try the brakes again. Saka ko lang naramdaman na merong konting kagat pa - around 15-20% - when I step on the pedals.

Exit agad ako ng alabang and sa national highway nalang takbo ko until laguna. Had the car checked out the day after; turns out kelangan lang pala ng repair kit nung brake master.

Thank God there was very little traffic that time and that I got home without a scratch.

You should know if you have a Master cylinder problem. If you step on your pedal the brake fell soft ang spongy. Since this is a leak you could double pump your brake for better grip. Lucky you, still kicken.

just pump your brakes magkakapreno yan kung master cylinder. na-experience namin before. nawalan yun brake nung sasakyan pababa ng alabang. maluwag pa byahe papuntang south noon. just recently replaced the brake shoe so medyo brake-in pa lang yun preno. luckily mabagal lang takbo namin and we anticipated it kaya may kasama na kami mechanic

Happened to me when I was in college driving a Nissan Maxima. Sa parking palang sa school wala na akong brake. I checked the brake fluid reservoir and wala ng laman. I always bring extra brake fluids and motor oil in my car so I filled it up. Nagkaroon ng konting brake response and after a few intersections, nawala ulit. Malakas pala yung leak. Buti nalang malapit lang ang bahay sa school. I just drove very slow and used the handbrake until I reach home.
