Last 2 experiences,- tumirik(limp mode) ang aming Gen3 Starex sa last stretch ng climb along Marcos Hiway (after overtaking every vehicle along the way),- MIL or CEL....

And then, tumirik(limp mode) ang aming GS sa may steep climb from Talisay Batangas to Tagaytay, after driving hard with a full load... MIL or CEL din...

Pahinga lang ng kaunti,- takbo na naman....

    hayyyyyy....

Once pa lang nman several years ago.

Ayaw na talaga mag-start, no choice but ipa-tow sa casa and leave it there via the insurance service (gabi na rin kasi).

Nissan xtrail suddenly died at 100kph along coastal road. Busted MAF sensor.

my first car... ford escort 1973.. ex taxi.. kumalas rack and pinion body, and the rack end bolt "disappeared".. i was able to bring the car home, by tying the parts up with alambre.
1976 corona... overhauled the carb at night, in the Churchyard. someone previously overhauled it, and used gasket maker! i had to pull out each and every fragment of gasket maker from the passageways..

    those were the days...

My most memorable ever car breakdown experience happens almost mga more or less 18years ago. My car brokedown in the middle of the Desert. nearest small town 150km away Yanbu-Jeddah Hiway. Happens at about 2pm. Was coasting around 160kph when suddenly my engine lost power and I heard a noise in the engine compartment. Manage to coast it in the safe part of the hiway. Upon opening the hood I saw immediately what's wrong, the distributor cap is dangling open and held by the Tension Wires, but the rotor contactor is nowhere to be found. Bad trip tlaga to think na ang ambient temp at that moment nasa 47degC July Aug. Lucky me I manage to hitch on a passing trailer truck bound for Madinah, and he dropped me by just before Madinah na merong small autosupply. Tha'ts the beauty of Toyota parts in those time in Saudi Arabia..kahit small autoshop in the middle of nowhere tyak meron na parts available Car ko nga pala is a 1983 3rd Gen Toyota Celica Liftback with a 22R engine, most of the cars that time eh mga Cressida/Corona/ hilux na same engine parts..// Again manage to get a hitch ride on one of the Oil trailer and put back the parts together. Ang kinabwiset ko is pinacheck up ko muna sa tropang mechanic the day before kase nga me long trip ako, nakalimutan pala nya I secure ng maayos ang clip ng distributor..yun eventually due to one clip alng nagheld sa cap bumigay. Lessons learn ko yun nun not to completely trust mechanic, kaya I have to recheck basic things in car lalo na mga ginalaw nila...tsk.. kapag naiisip ko pa rin yun na badtrip pa rin ako. Nalate na ko sa Party sa Jeddah...and na endanger pa ko mastuck up in the middle of nowhere na possible akong madehydrate due to the scorching summer heat.

Tore my timing belt at C5 while running at speed, a 94 Corolla GLI, good thing the engine was a non-interference type, just had to tow it home and replace the belt.

my mechanic once told me that i have nothing to worry about our L300(petrol) when it comes to timing belt trouble. i was skeptical until it failed on me while i was going uphill to antipolo.
called my mechanic for help then we suspected it was the timing belt snapped. again he assured me that there's nothing to worry, towed the van to his shop then replaced the t-belt,,, engine purred like a cat as if there's nothing happened. "oh diba? sabi ko na sayo eh!" i just smiled relieved.

the hard part was how to manage the van being towed downhill with the engine not running, a tow bar would be perfect for that case but there's nowhere nobody we could borrow one.
i just let the gravity do the thing sooo slow until we reached the flat roads then off we towed the van with a rope, yet still it's darn hard to control the brakes. kaya there's no way i would forget our good old L300 van. needless to say the battery/alternator, clutch cable issues somewhat brought me helpless on the road either. ang haba talaga ng pinagsamahan namin noon.
served us well for 2 decades, said goodbye to her 2 years ago.
twice i saw her again on the road, nothing had changed and it just made me smile seeing her again. there my 2 distinctive decals at the back still with this smaller one that really belongs to me simply because that was my handle name in a foreign forums that the new owner didn't knew somewhat meant it was nagandahan lang siguro yung bagong may ari kaya hindi na nya inalis

    Toyota Corolla Big Body Sedan.

Kasal ng kabarkada ni Misis. We are invited so nagpunta kami sa simbahan.Me, my wife and our daughter. Pagdating sa simbahan nagsamasama sila magbabarkada. After the wedding ceremony dun sa church kanya kanyang puntahan na ang mga bisita papuntang reception area. Dahil nagchichikahan pa sila wife at 3 female friends nya, we ended up as the last group to leave the church premises.
When I tried to start the engine, ayaw! then my wife and her three girlfriends stepped out of the car and tried to push the vehicle para mapastart ko. Imagine 4 girls, wearing dresses, with their high heels pushing an old sedan. Nakakawala ng poise.hahaha

at the reception, while eating, one of my wife's friends said "damihan nyo ang kain ha.baka magtulak ulit tayo mamaya.kelangan natin ng lakas". Tawanan kami lahat.

Nuong uwian na, pagkasakay dun sa kotse, all our fingers crossed, hindi naman kami binigo.nagstart naman agad sya..haha

nung pinacheck the next day. sira na daw alternator.

    well!
you'd think that with advantages like this, every car maker should have this engine innovation... so why don't they?
