But contrary to a report published on Casting Calls Manila, which said that the new "Bourne" film will be needing 1,000 Filipinos to appear in the crowd scene, a source involved in the Manila shoot of "Bourne Legacy" clarified to abs-cbnNEWS.com that casting for the movie is now in the callback stage.

The source also said that the people mentioned in the blog post are not part of their staff.

In a phone interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com on Thursday afternoon, Oghie from BMX Talent Agency, the person and agency mentioned in the blog post, said they are still waiting for confirmation on the supposed casting call.

"Sub-agency lang kami, yung kumontak sa amin si Arman, na isang freelance agent, hindi pa siya nagpa-follow up sa amin. So wala pa talagang detalye. Pero marami na nga ang naga-apply," Oghie said.

With the Manila shoot scheduled this month, interest about the movie is increasing, especially in social media sites. Rumors also abound that the film's star, the Oscar-nominated Renner, is already in Manila.

Even Presidential Deputy Spokesperson Abigail Valte seems to have caught the "Bourne" fever.

"A friend just landed the Chief Mechanic gig at the Bourne shoot. Looking forward to all the bike stunts," she announced in her Twitter account on Thursday.

After a follower suggested that they should hang out at the shoot, she replied: "If hubby gets to be one of the bikers, yes "

Renner reportedly injured in a bar brawl in Phuket, Thailand.

OSCAR-nominated Hurt Locker star Jeremy Renner was reportedly injured in a bar brawl involving a rotor axe, metal pipes, wooden clubs and a table leg in Phuket, Thailand, according to sources.

The fight left two men in serious condition, and led to the arrest of six others.

Reports say that Renner and a pal, Vorasit Issara, the manager of a Thai luxury resort, were bar hopping with four friends into the wee hours of the night in the beach town.

They ended up at the Rachada Pub at 3:30am local time, where Issara threw a glass and agitated the bar staff, according to the Phuket News.

Six men allegedly attacked Issara and several of Renner's friends. Reports say that 20 people were involved in the brawl.

According to the Thai newspaper, Issara was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition, after being hit in the neck with an axe and stabbed in the stomach. His chauffeur, Noppadon Preechawai, was also hospitalised after being cut in the face. He is in stable condition as well
Reports said that Renner's hand was injured in the ruckus and that he was treated at the hospital, but Renner's rep said he was not injured.

Renner's rep told the Post that the Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol actor was "not injured or involved" in the altercation, and that "he exited when the fight broke out." Renner is in Asia working on The Bourne Legacy in Manila, Philippines.

Six men have been arrested and will apparently be charged with attempted murder.

'Bourne' to further boost Phl tourism

MANILA, Philippines - The scheduled shooting of the movie “Bourne Legacy” in Manila will put the Philippines back on the map, and this time the country’s tourist spots will be given prominence to make them more attractive to tourists, a Palace official said yesterday.

“We are already on the map but this will also give them an opportunity to see our country in a different setting. I understand that they will also be shooting on location in Palawan,” deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said in an interview over state-run radio dzRB.

She said this will also be a good time to prove to the world that the Philippines is not just home to great talents such as boxing champion Manny Pacquiao, the Filipino-Americans in “American Idol,” and the whiz kids.

The popular sunset along Manila Bay will also be featured as part of the Bourne shooting, along with the iconic Jones Bridge in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

Another good thing the shooting will bring is that the Philippines will be mentioned in the film.

“Part of the script is that the hero will go to the Philippines. So this time it will really draw an international audience. From what I understand in the movie – the Philippines will really be mentioned,” Valte said.

Valte said all government agencies concerned from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority up to the local government units have already coordinated properly to make the shooting a success.
