my biggest issue with the our country is that we are quick to forget and that IT PAYS to be corrupt. there is no fear of being caught or being ostracized by the people because that is the exception, not the rule. Estrada being behind bars is an exception. Gen. Garcia being court martialed is the exception.

the reason why i like the two party system of the USA is because there is a sense of pride and belonging in the party. the parties tend to keep their people in line, more often than not. eh dito sa pilipinas, puro balimbing and if not, they will start their own party na lang.

in a way they provide balance... pero lahat ay kinokontra nila.. pero ano ang alternative na ino-offer nila? i subsidize ng govt ang mga mahihirap... dahil may mga karapatan sila... hmm.. doesn't that sound so democratic.. akala ko ba communist sila... but beyond the political ideologies... as a watchdog.. they do good... they serve their purpose...

but personally, i think regardless kung makinabang ang taong bayan o hindi sa mga advocacies nila.. mas important eh yung power and recognition that they get.... yung success ng advocacies nila ay side effect lang... ang pinaka importante sa kanila is power and recognition... they now have seats in congress... they can press their weight... they even have defended pork barrel na dati eh ipinagsisigawan nilang i abolish... kita mo na.. the govt is spending for the campaign of these groups against itself!

however, i also believe that they will only become irrelevant kapag naayos na lahat ang problema sa bansa natin...

Here is a very irresponsible action by these so called militant groups:

OFW group rejects Migrante's call to suspend remittances

    INQ7.net

(UPDATE) OVERSEAS Filipino workers from Saudi Arabia on Saturday evening rejected Migrante's call to temporarily suspend remittances in protest of the various scandals hounding the administration of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

In an e-mail message, Rashid Fabricante of Pusong Mamon Task Force told INQ7.net he and his colleagues are going to continue sending remittances because they are "the lifeblood of our economy and the umbilical link to our families and loved ones."

Pusong Mamon Task Force is a network of OFWs in the Middle East who help fellow OFWs who find themselves in difficult situations.

He said that despite ongoing crisis in the country and regardless of who sits in power, "we will never be remiss of our prime duty as global citizens. The economy has to be improved; it should never be rattled by groups or individuals decorated with partisan, regional, or personal interest to grab or stay in power."

Migrante secretary-general Maita Santiago made the call to suspend remittances early Saturday. She suggested that in case of emergencies, OFWs send their money through "door-to-door, non-bank channels" instead.

Last year, OFW remittances through banks reached a record high of about 8.5 billion dollars. However, it is estimated that total OFW remittances, if those remitted through non-formal channels were included, could reach 21 billion dollars.

In fairness dun sa OFW militant group like Migrante, malaki din naman ang natutulong nila sa mga OFW's. In HK, they are the ones voicing out sa gov't tungkol dun sa pagtanggal ng levy sa mga DH at ibalik yung dati nilang sweldo. Sila din ang tumutulong dun sa may mga problema sa mga amo nila at iba pang mga legal cases.

Sa Middle East, they have to work underground dahil hinuhuli sila, all for the cause of helping and assisting our OFW's.

Mas nakakatulong pa yata sila kesa sa mga consulate/embassy natin eh. Hindi nga lang publicized.
