i'm not really sold on that online learning thing...kc part of being in an MBA program is getting business contacts(i had an officemate who met her husband while getting her MBA, but that's a different story ;) . Plus, aside from the discussions, dahil sa mga projects, you are forced to put up with -- este, interact, with other people. i've learned the hard way that people skills are *way* more important than intelligence. imho lang po B)

St. Regis yun. Ateneo based their program with the MBA program of Regis kaya Ateneo-Regis MBA Program yun.

MBA would be very helpful if you will pursue a career in a big company, but if you will manage your own business, it's better to take up MA in Entrepreneurship, AIM has a very good program for that. Mahal nga lang dun sobra.

half way na ko sa MBA ko here, 4 years ago, but the school transfered all the classes to saturday whole day as opposed to wed, fri 6 pm above and sat. yun I stopped. Well you can learn more things?, meet new people in business and make new contacts, plus you get to use your rusted brain. Also during that time walang family, its either mag gimmick or matulog, punta house GF, so I decided na make use of my time.

Q. May entrance exam pa ba ang MBA enrollment?

FD, ewan ko lang sa Pinas. Pero dito sa US, most Universities require a GRE or GMAT exam. In addition, 3 professional references are required and a 2-5 page essay addressing the questions similar to:

MBA: Write a 3-4 page statement (no longer than 4 pages total) answering the following:
1) Why is admission to the MBA important to you?
2) What special contributions do you believe you will make to this School?
3) Describe an ethical dilemma you have encountered and the process by which you resolved the situation.

GRE/GMAT General Test Measures:
Analytical Writing
Verbal
Quantitative

I think MBA Applicants are required to have the GMAT only. While GRE and or GMAT is for all other Graduate Degrees.

Has anyone here undergone any of the MBA programs of Ateneo?

Based on their website, there are three programs to choose from:

1. Standard MBA Program (at least 2 years exp)
2. MBA for Middle-Managers (at least 5 years exp and senior supervisory pos)
3. Ateneo-Regis MBA (at least 5 years exp or supervisory pos)

Fees:

MBA Standard Program (new) P8,530.95/subject
MBA for Middle Managers (MM) P26,263.75/term
Ateneo-Regis MBA Program
ROCKWELL-MAKATI P14,097.40/subject

I am particularly interested in the Regis Program (since that I don't qualify for the 5 years exp required for the Middle-Manager Program). But, with the BIG difference in fees against the Standard MBA Program, is it worth it?

During my time in the late 80's, there was only one program for the MBA at the Ateneo, i.e., Standard MBA which is a 2-year program. One nice thing about this is that there was co-mingling of middle, senior, and junior corporate officers. Everybody learned from each other's experiences and insights.

The program they have right now is segmentized based on level/position. I'm sure they have a good reason for this though.

Personally, although I'm an alumnus of Ateneo MBA program, I would tend to recommend that you also consider the La Salle MBA program (held at the RCBC Tower in Makati) and the excellent Entrepreneur Program of AIM.

I graduated from the Ateneo-Regis program a couple of years ago and it was worth it.

It gives you a whole new horizon on Management and its various intricacies. The exposure with other Sr. Managers, sharing their wealth of experiences from various companies, while supplementing the experiences of the Ateneo Professors, was really rewarding.

Of course, it will eventually depend on you if you will apply what you've learned from the classroom and field exposures. Also, the tie up with Regis in Colorado is a big plus especially since we should all be aiming to be global.

i've tried #2 (for middle managers) for one year. too bad i stopped the program because my schedules really suck.

yes pwede. pero parusa sa katawan kung sabay-sabay.

there is a MBA crash course in AIM, i think full time, 1 or 1.5 year(s) lang, pero grabe yung schedule. that's what my brother's gf is taking up.

that's what i don't like about ateneo MBA programs (of course this is my personal view)....they try to segregate the less experienced people with those in middle management level. if you are at a 'startup' of your career and wanted to get more from MBA...what would you get if all your classmates are just like you who have 2~4 years experience? i prefer the DLSU MBA program...no segregation....but a little bit more expensive than ateneo.

There are certain universities in Singapore and Hong Kong that have direct tie ups with Top Tier MBA Programs in the U.S. Try to search for it.

In the field of finance (my field), I observed that most of the fast trackers are from U.S. MBA Programs (Wharton, University of Chicago, and Kellog Northwestern). Locally, I know of guys who graduated from La Salle MBA and AIM MBM who are now senior guys in financial institutions.

I don't know about other fields but in finance, there is such a thing as "old boys club" whereby senior guys who graduated from a certain school has a strong tendency to recruit grads of his school to be part of his team!
I define senior guys as "vice president/first VP/senior VP and up."

actually sir, na review rin ako ng curriculum ng La Salle (since priority ko sana siya kasi sa Benilde ako nag graduate)... comparable siya with the Ateneo Standard MBA...

though mas maganda ang mga subjects ng Middle-Manager & Regis ng Ateneo... no offense - but parang pang undergrad yung ibang subjects ng standard program.

AIM is good nga daw... but is expensive! around 45K/term daw...

I graduated from the Ateneo-Regis program a couple of years ago and it was worth it.

mazdamazda: I was also a graduate of DLSU-Engg, but in my opinion, the curriculum being offered at the Ateneo-Regis program is geared more towards Sr. Managers/ Directors/ VPs. Also, I would recommend the experience of discovering the AdMU culture.

OT: On the IT side, my sister who is a graduate of DLSU:IT and who is on postgrad studies at the same school, is saying that DLSU is offering a better curriculum than AdMU.

If money were no object:

1. USA (High GMAT required)
2. UK / Australia (not so high GMAT at may kasama pang migration plans hehe)
3. Singapore (I think Nanyang Technological University has a tie-up with some US schools)
4. AIM
5. Admu and Lasalle

Whatever you decide, the network/contacts you make in the post graduate study will be more than worth what you spent. Plus, the exposure to different management styles and paradigms (lalo na kung may foreigners) will be very good for you.

am presently taking my MBAH (MBA with specialization in health care services) in ateneo graduate school of business (agsb) in rockwell. every saturday lang pasok namin 9 am to 4 pm. very convenient kasi tailored (i believe) for doctors.

am on my second to the last term. malapit na.. just have to finish this term and do my strama (strategic management paper) and hopefully defend it by dec 2006. then tapos na! wohoooohoooo!

so far, okay naman...

so i can say that aside from being a Thomasian, Atenean na rin pala ako...

and proud of it!
