i have friends in Globe, mga network engineers, mataas nga magpasweldo, pero usually at par with other companies din. ang binabayaran kasi dyan is yung position.

si mazdamazda tsaka si pajerokid, di ko lang alam kung IT related sila, pero ang lalaki din ng sweldo nyang mga yan (sa Sun naman sila...)

hindi po ako DBA.

2 klase kasi ang Oracle DBA production DBA or development DBA or both kung ang papasukin mo just baby sit lang kung baga nakaset up na just maintenance at kung ilang instances(oracle databases) at OS platforms. Kung UNIX based medyo mataas ang bigayan sa oracle DBA kasi dika dapat limited sa oracle DBA you should know UNIX scripting/administration to manage ang databases. Remember ang laki ng responsibility ng DBA you manage the jewel ng companys yong data hindi pwedeng mawala . Ano ang mga tanong kung interview kayo first tanungin mo 24/7 ba sila lahat ng application? para malinaw hanggang saan ang responsibility mo. Ako kasi kung ako maginterview saiyo ang tanong ko lang kung how many times kana nag restore ng backup at ano ang best practice to backup and recover ng databases kung masasagot mo ng maayos mo yan sigurado papasa ka. Hindi importante ang certification sa oracle plus lang yon ang importante how good you are pag handle ng problema pag nag crash na ang databases how good you are in Recovery planning. Pasensiya na medyo mahaba kasi yan ang trabaho ko mag 8 years na kaya ang daming scenario na ang naencounter kong problema pagdating dyan.

Yes. I heard of it about 3 years na yata. We first used it in our US Head Office, but here in HK, the upper management decided to use Axapta instead, but the project team of Axapta failed after more than a year and after our company spends millions (HKD) setting up this ERP from Microsoft

Finally, our management decided to let off Axapta and follow the US instead as they managed to implement it successfully, so right now, we are again starting to roll off Oracle and my boss just asked me if I'm interested to take the DBA post, which I readily agreed

(crossed fingers na matuloy hehe).

Puro in-house trainings ako. Usually kung magaling ka sa SQL the company will train you to be a Database Developer or Administrator. Pinalad ako I got the highest scores among those who took the exams after the training so I became a DBA. Lahat ng certifications ko nandun sa mga previous companies ko, which I doubt kung ibibigay nila.
