let me see...the Father of the EDSA Revolution overthrew a 20-year dictatorship is buried at Manila Memorial, and the dictator -- under whose regime, tens of thousands of political enemies were abducted and killed, and whose relatives are still fighting for justice and compensation -- is gonna be buried there?
it's just as well...ninoy probably didn't like being buried around snakes...

in fairness...relatively short kasi ang political career ni ninoy. malay natin, pag nagtagal e baka me lumabas ding scandal. still, it was very dangerous to take the unpopular stand back then, given that makoy figuratively and literally owned the political playground they were in. dati rati e kung sa kulungan or sementeryo uwi mo e maswerte ka na. these days kasi, you can lead 8 unsuccessful coups and still be a senator...or be a member of a deposed regime/family, and still be in congress/senate. i know we're supposed to be democratic and all, pero i'm still having trouble processing the facts B)Last edited by badkuk; July 30th, 2005 at 07:49 AM.

But was there anyone among us who had intimate knowledge of what was going on then? Di ba most of what we know is what has come up in the media. Sumikat nuon yung Malaya and Enquirer(?) so ito mga papers ang binibili kasi anti-Marcos ang stance nila (much like anti GMA din Enq ngayon). The papers used the negative issues to bolster their business. Sino naman ang parati nilang kino-quote eh di ba yung opposition? Sa ngayon, naiintindihan na natin kung paano talaga inuumpishan yung mga coup and people power na yan. Di ba ginagamit lang tayo na kunyari upheaval ng grassroots pero ang tutuoo, yung big business, yung mga self-serving na mga tao lang naman ang nagkukutsaba para ibagsak at paguluhin ang mundo natin, para sumikat at kumita sila? Kung ayaw ng sumunod yung nakaupo sa kagustuhan ng mg Bus Clubs na yan,kukutsabahin yung Namfrel, si Sin at kung sino sino pa. Magpapalabas na ng propaganda at people power na. On being informed of what happened during the Marcos years, pansinin nyo, halos lahat ang natatandaan eh yung later part kung saan todo yung negative issues sa media. Huh!? Bat ganun? OT ang labas.
