THE National Bureau of Investigation has started its probe into the alleged kidnapping of a 30-year-old lotto winner by nine neighbors who volunteered to escort him in claiming the P39.5-million jackpot prize.

Investigation conducted by the NBI Special Action Unit showed that Erwin Namia, of Norzagaray, Bulacan, was reportedly abducted along with his wife, Virgie and their two sons on September 29 after getting half of the P79.2 million jackpot at the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office in Quezon City.

Virgie's grandfather, Francisco Hernandez, 60, went yesterday to the NBI main office in Manila to report the incident.

He even brought a xerox copy of the winning numbers (05-37-07-03-04-35) and the newspapers that published the result of the winning lotto to show proof that Erwin was one of the two winners of the September 13 lotto draw.

Hernandez identified his neighbors Danilo and Nestor Joaquin as among the nine persons who snatched Erwin and his family.

Erwin and his family have not returned home since September 29 after the suspects volunteered to accompany them to the PCSO to claim the jackpot prize.

Hernandez became suspicious after learning that the suspects spent P50,000 in the casino and P80,000 during a night out.

He even confronted the suspects and asked them the whereabouts of the victims. But the suspects told him that they went to Bicol and Erwin just gave them a tip.

Right after he won the jackpot, nagpagawa siya ng bahay, at walang ginawa kundi magpa-party day ang night. Kumalat tuloy na instant millionaire siya.

Sometimes it does pay to be discreet with your fortunes.
