My answer (in a general way, please exclude 5 and 9)

Fundamentalists commonly attack the Church by citing those examples but they fail to recognize that the Church that they're attacking is the only church that can trace it's roots back to the apostles time. Since it can be traced back to the apostle's time it has the authority to make decisions as describe at Mt 16:19.

Holy traditions of the church are permitted and done by the early Christians (1 Corinthians 11:2).

Other things to ponder

- Who compiled the bible?
- With the guidance of the H.S, who are the people responsible in compiling whose books are inspired or not?
- Before the bible there were oral tradition and holy tradition, wala pong nakasulat sa papel nun o saan mang parchment.
- Is your denomination in full communion with the works of Thomas (yes Thomas the Apostle!) in India? To those who don't know, Thomas travelled to India to spread the good news there. His works are in full communion with the Catholic Church.

The Catholic Church doesn't worship saints, mama mary. Catholics worship only the true God.

the simplest explanation would be the wordly Church being mostly mortal, na-infiltrate din ng mga demons. instead of opposing the Church by disproving the beliefs, ine-exaggerate ng mga "demon" priests ang mga paniniwala noon araw beyond human comprehension para nga naman lalo ka lituhin. syempre pag confused na, morality will be affected.

Additional thoughts to ponder.. (taken from Steven Ray) actually madami ito pero eto lang ang pinili ko.

1. Protestants claim that St. Paul categorically condemned all oral tradition (Col 2:8). If so, why does he tell the Thessalonians to “stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter” (2 Thes 2:15) and praises the Corinthians because they “hold firmly to the traditions” (1 Cor 11:2)?

2.. If the authors of the New Testament believed in sola Scriptura, why did they draw on oral Tradition as authoritative and as God’s

7. How could the Apostle Thomas establish the church in India that survives to this day (and is now in communion with the Catholic Church) without leaving them with one word of New Testament Scripture?

8. If Jesus intended for Christianity to be exclusively a “religion of the book,” why did He wait 1400 years before showing somebody how to build a printing press?

9. . If Christianity is a “book religion,” how did it flourish during the first 1500 years of Church history when the vast majority of people were illiterate?

10. If the early Church believed in sola Scriptura, why do the creeds of the early Church always say “we believe in the Holy Catholic Church,” and not “we believe in the “Bible alone”?

I respect your beliefs. Here's a bit of what I know and believe.
I hope you can give me the same respect.

#1. Not everything that is extra-Biblical is contra-Biblical.
To invoke higher authorities for lost persons is a most natural thing to do.
Grace does not destroy nature. What it does is to elevate it. See Mt 5:17-18; Jn 21:25.

#2. Wax candles existed even before 320. The Egyptians and Cretans made the candle from beeswax, as early as 3000 BC. Being the main source of light at the time, early Christians used it as a symbol of the Resurrection and a memory aid. Every time they lit a candle, they would remember Jesus. There is nothing idolatrous in that. (BTW, the first practical incandescent lamp was invented in 1879.) See Jn 1:4; Mt 4:16, etc.

#3. Those who are already with God do not cease to be our friends and relatives and neighbors. "Brothers and sisters in Christ", eka nga. I don't see anything wrong in acknowledging them and continuing our relationship with them. They certainly still belong to the Church. The Bible says angels are gifts from God to us (Ex 23:20) and serve as good examples of praise and worship. Rev 7:11.

#4. Acts 2:42, 46. The Greek speaking Christians called it EuKaris (eu=good + charis=gift). 1Cor11:23-26.
"For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes."

#5. The title is not inappropriate. If Mary is the Mother of Jesus, and you believe that Jesus is God, in that sense, the title is valid. As in, if A=B and B=C, then A=C. But by no means do Catholics believe that Mary has a divine nature, as that would be superstitious and idolatrous.

#6. On the contrary, it's the other way around. It's the lay fashions that changed. The Presbyters (Acts 14:23) were the ones who retained the old garbs, and set aside a special set of Sunday clothes for Eucharistic celebrations.

#7. "Established" is a kinda strong term, if by that you mean it was invented. Not even Popes can invent purgatory. AFAIK, they can only affirm its existence.

#8. Latin was the official language of the Roman Empire -- in use long before Christianity. It emerged, and was never legislated. Catholic monks evangelized and educated the barbarians using the latin language. The bishops merely CONTINUED the use of latin as an instrument of unity among the emerging nation states. Latin may be an unkown tongue to many today, but it was the language in general use even in 600 AD and beyond.

#9. What is prayer, but simply communicating, speaking with, conversing with another person? Gosh, even lawyers pray to judges in court. If the church is God's Family, and those who are enjoying the reward are part of that family, why would anyone impose a rule saying that the children may converse only with Daddy and no one else? Don't you think the Father would be happy if his children who love one another manifest their love in deeds ... and words? Jn 13:34-35.

Even if the intention of a thread starter maybe innocent, there would be a person who would retaliate in defense of his faith, which is natural. This now leads to all kinds of rubbish, personal attacks, flamers, trollers and what-have-yous appearing on a religion thread.
