I started nursery, then kindergarten, then prep = 3 years
    Then elementary, grades 1 to 7 = 7 years
    Then highschool = 4 years.

Total is 14 years (+/-). I wonder what the fuss is all about with this K12 thing?

Not really with the US bro as they have more respect for our educational system and our graduates. We have a lot of colleagues who went to the US and were recognized as "engineers"... they have to take state exams though but that is understandable.

But with Canada and (probably) Australia, they are being recognized as trade school graduates only because of our lack of hs 5 and 6...... and are relegated to harder manual labor

Dito sa Oz hangang year 12 ang school. pero 9am to 3pm ang pasok, every 10 weeks meron 2 week holiday.

Here in Australia, engineers from the Philippines are recognized by Engineers Australia(EA). I am mechanical engineer here and there.

Sadyang meron engineering graduates na ginusto nila na maging trade worker.

It was an issue before... which is why some courses went to five years.

Even now, some of our health course graduates cannot take licensure exams without first taking masters... ang gulo.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

true but you also have to consider tha amount of classes we have. kung ano anong subjects meron na di naman magagamit at kelangan in real life. unlike sa ibang bansa konti lang subjects, kung ano lang talaga kelangan yon lang ang bibigay sayo. nung nag highschool ako abroad major subjects lang required and 2 extra subject like P.E. and another subject of your choice. all in all in hs i only had 6 subjects, math, english, history, economics, pe and another subject of my choice every semester iniiba ko para ma subukan lahat.

    Happy for you bro...

So, you were considered an engineer in Australia without taking additional study units?

Or were you a transferee from an office here in Manila?

I just remembered a friend who migrated to Australia and yes he was considered such based on his experience here...
