you should blame instead those energy futures traders in new york. it is only june and they are already trading for the oil deliveries in december. last year when they started bidding the oil price to high heavens "fearing" an oil shortage in the winter months, their predictions did not happen since opec opened up its wells to prevent high prices. and this time they are are it again, peddling the same old lies to maximize their gains!

you know how those traders think? commission in every trade! they will buy and sell that oil several times before it even gets pumped out of the oil well. to hell with the rest of the world as long as they get their commissions. and they will make any excuse, like "fear of oil shortage in winter" to justify increasing the price. the higher the price goes up the more times they trade that barrel of oil. only when they have milked it to their content will they have it delivered.

so where does their commissions come from. you bet, it's your pocket indio!
    really good point!

heck... even the OPEC wants to stabilize the world oil price market. if they push it too high - then they will be eventually be killed off prematurely by making alternative sources of fuel MORE viable.

by the way... the Philippines has one of the lowest tax rates for petroleum products in the world. hence we also have the one of the lowest pump price for a non-oil exporting country.

they can quit smoking, drinking & stop using their cellular phones (for crying out loud... the annual net income of petron can be earned by pldt/smart/piltel in less than a month).

with the people earning min wage, it is quite funny actually.

they complain that they don't have enough money for food, and other vital needs...and yet they keep on texting, they have mid-range to near high-end cellphones. i can even bet their cellphone is better than mine. they can also regularly spend time at the mall, inevitably spending their hard-earned cash there for something which might only be a want and not a need.

sana dati pa naimbento ang mga railway systems around metro para tipid talaga. Parang sa ibang countries, no need to use cars as a mean of transpo.
Ang mahal na ng gas! biodiesel na tayo mga dieselers!

Sa European countries nga, they are willing to tax petroleum prices para mabawasan ang demand and consumption. What we need is a long term solution to this soon-to-be unviable source of energy.

And public utility vehicles should use much cleaner CNG combusting engines instead of keeping their badly maintained diesels.

Pag humarurot yung mga bus at jeep na yan kala mo mura pa ang diesel.

$2.49/gallon na ang premium gas A week ago, it was just $2.31

Ang pinagtataka ko, laging tumataas ang gas price during the long weekend (July 1- July 4) dito sa US :swear: at energy traders

LOL! Mazda2 has nailed it on the nose! Pinoys really need to look at the whole picture. Gas prices are going up everywhere so it really is not isolated in the philippines. I think I saw a kid on some "money for school" tv ad that had a cell phone in his hand! Its really hard to feel sorry for that kid! Now, I am not saying that the whole "money for school" thing is a farce, a lot of kids do need help but how could one put money in the hands of people who waste their hard earned money on smokes, booze and high end cell phones?
