Gorres vs Montiel Boxing Match

Who do you think should have won the fight? The decision goes to Montiel. or should it be Gorres, or should it be a draw?

sa tingin ko gorres should be ahead on points.

nagulat din ako sa referee,bigla nalang nag minus ng point for grabbin.AFAIK,fighters are given at least 2 warnings before a point is deducted.

It really was a good fight for Gorres... if it was amateur boxing (scoring system just like what they do in Asian Games) i am sure he would have won over Montiel without a doubt. However, it was a professional bout and the judges have bias on whoever is the defending champion.

The 2-point deduction really hurt him. But it was too cruel for the referee to give him that deduction without a warning given.

For me Gorres should have won the fight or at least a draw for the 2 point deduction from the referee without any warning Montiel recieved so many blows in the face and his left eye is swollen in the last 2 rounds.

sa tingin ko si gorres dapat ang nanalo. mas maraming patama, ok din ang quality ng mga suntok. si montiel kasi one big punch ang habol, medyo kulang sa trabaho.

yung 1st deduction, medyo harsh, nagulat din ako. yung 2nd, mukhang ok lang kasi pabagsak naman talaga si gorres diba? 10-9 minus 1 = 10-8, kung bumagsak 10-8 din naman kaya fair lang sa tingin ko.

it should have been a draw. malakas ang patama ni montiel pero magaling naman sa depensa si gorrez. mas strategic ang galaw ni gorrez kaya lang kulang pa sa power para indain ni montiel ang mga suntok nya. but i know Z gave it his all.

It should have been a draw, at the very least, although hindi ko rin maintindihan kung ano pumasok sa isip ni Gorres para sugurin niya ng ganun si Montiel, knowing na maaari siyang bawasan ng points.

Still, I prefer their match kesa yung kay Jimrex. Patawa naman yung kalaban niyang Indonesian eh, akala yata nasa sitcom siya.

gorres ran out of steam in the end...yakap ng yakap (he probably thought he was ahead on the scorecards, so he probably was just trying to run out the clock). it was a good fight though. i like the last match...boom-boom did not even break a sweat..:lol:

Rumor has it na hindi naman talaga nag-train masyado yung kalaban ni Boom-Boom. As in hinatak lang daw at inalok ng pera para lumaban.

Parang hindi na tuloy ako masyadong convinced sa panalo ni Boom-Boom. Oh well, undercard naman siya kay Dela Hoya sa Las Vegas, let's see kung magpatuloy yung undefeated streak niya.

Sana napatumba ni Gorres si Montiel para malinis talaga dahil di makukuha sa point system yan pag challenger ka sa title bout.

Si Gorres me bahid ng kabaklaan kse yumayakap sya kay Montiel. Nakaka turn off at nakakahiya yung ginawa nya and not a trait of a champion. Si Montiel kahit wala sa condition hinarap at sinalo nya lahat ng suntok at until the end bumabato pa din sya ng suntok - a true champion!

Look at it this way - Gorres was in tip top shape, e paano kaya kung tip top shape din si Montiel e di lalong wala na syang panama? If a rematch is planned I'm pretty sure mapapahiya lalo si Gorres dahil magpapa condition na yang si Montiel.

gorres won the fight for montiel. if it wasn't for his ill advised showboating in the 10th round, he would've most probably wrested the belt from montiel. too bad he decided to ham it up for the crowd instead of focusing on beating up his opponent

Me thinks it should have been a draw.

Gorres fought like an Olympic boxer--concentrating on points and showing good defense.

But I have to admit, Montiel was a damn powerful puncher.
