I've given this article a thought and somehow, I somehow think it's not just about "The Tyranny of the Weak." My personal view is that this is all "The Tyranny Against the Middle Class." It's always the middle class that really suffers: the poor say they have nothing, and can't pay; the extremely rich, they try to bully by threatening ("are you sure you want to take this to court?", "I know politician X and police officer Y").

The middle class is perceived as rich by the poor, and is expected to let problems be because "may kaya ka naman eh." The middle class is perceived as insignificant by the extremely rich and "not worth their while."

Between the carelessness of jeepneys, buses, taxis, MCs, and kuligligs on one end and big SUVs, wangwangs, sirens, and back-up/escort vehicles on the other... the middle class seems to have no recourse but to have the patience of Job.

Yep you're correct about the different classes. It's the middle class that have the most to lose.

to the power elite, the middle class serves as a buffer (or shield) between them and the poor

the poor don't care if everything turns to chaos

their lives are already miserable in the first place

can't get any worse... they have nothing to lose if peace and order breaks down

the middle class, however, have LIVES to live

the middle class have better-paying jobs, businesses, houses/condos, cars, children in private school, credit cards, shopping, night life, travel...

pag nagkagulo, the middle class lifestyle will be completely disrupted

so it is in the best interest of the middle class that peace and order is maintained

the larger the middle class, the larger the number of people who demand peace and order

which is good for the power elite

if you have a minority of very rich people, and a majority of very poor people, with no buffer in between, chances are you'll get a mass uprising

coz the number of people who demand chaos is far larger than the number of people who demand peace and order

so to protect themselves from being torn to shreds by the nothing-to-lose masses, the power elite allow the existence of the middle class
