one of the scariest movies I watched as a kid was this:

BTW, its the original 1979 version of the movie and not the remake that came out much later.

This was one of the scariest movies I have watched in recent years.

The original japanese version that all made us prefer NOT to sit to close to our TV sets in fear that some girl with a really bad hair day might crawl out of it.

Any horror movies involving Richard Gutierrez, scary ung acting

Seriously, Exorcism of Emily Rose (seen it on Greenbelt with my thesis mate a wednesday night after working on our finals kasabay namin mga couples kakainggit sila magkakayakap ) and Mirrors (seen it alone in my laptop around 2AM and had all the right to scream).

One of my favorites would be a rarity called "Jacob's Ladder", starring Tim Robbins. Not many people remember it, but it's an excellent horror-mystery film.

In fact, it's in the same vein as many of the current Japanese and Korean horror movies that Hollywood is only now rediscovering... it's very subtle, very surreal, and very, very involving. Worth watching if you've never seen it... and worth watching again if you have.

Scariest would be The Shining by Stanley Kubrick which for me is disturbing.

I don't watch horror movies (supernatural, ghosts and monsters) because my Mom told me that it attracts spirits aside from the fact that I AM a scaredy cat. The scariest supernatural movie for me would be The Ring (Japanese version). I watched it in the theater having no idea what it was about. I had to sleep with the lights on, door open and windows closed for several days after watching that movie.

What I love to watch are suspense/psychological thrillers. In that genre The Silence of the Lambs is my favorite.

Movies that I enjoyed watching are: Blown Away, Boxing Helena, Single White Female and The Hand that Rocks the Cradle :naughty2:

The Ring japanese version ang isa sa scariest movie for me. Very disturbing yung video kasi hehe.

Dadagdagan ko pa, hindi ko lang maaalala yung iba ko pang gustong-gusto.

Wasn't Amityville horror based on a true story? There are too many versions of the film but I want to watch is the original.

Omen - this started our obssession with Rotts

The Exorcist - I will NEVER watch this film because it is said to be cursed and I don't want to attract bad spirits.

Rosemary's Baby - scary because it involved Satanism.

Cathy, I'm not too sure which of the two (Amityville & Salem's Lot) is based on true story, pero sure ako isa sa kanila ang based sa true story. The original Amityville is the one I saw.

You mentioned The Shining, which is also pretty good, and reminds me to download the Jack Nicholson version and not the TV-Movie version

The Ring (Japanese version) is the scariest movie I've watched.

No spectacular effects or graphic scenes. The story is simple but involving a very common house appliance in a scary story really did me in.

For me, it'll be The Grudge 1 and 2.

Oh yeah, favorite ko din yung Silence of the Lambs.

Eraserhead (1977) by David Lynch. Very weird. I don't understand what's it about.

Scary movies I really like are:

    1. Ju-on (I saw this at Greenbelt 1 - Colegialas screaming "ayoko na", running outside)
    2. Silent Hill (A sleeper hit if you ask me, I believe may part 2 daw, ang galing talaga nito)
    3. Jacob's Ladder (Cool movie)
    4. Ringu
    5. One Missed Call (the original jap horror, not the american remake)
    6. Sigaw
    7. Pasiyam (roderick paulate, et al - - - maganda ang pagkakagawa)
    8. The Mist (with the WTF moment at the end)
    9. Dawn of the Dead, 28 days later, 28 weeks later (nice zombie movies)

Dami pa. . . pero the above are good movies to watch this halloween. . .
