    Happy new year, tsikoteers!!!
Excuse you, but it really was the last day of the decade.

    December 31, 2009 was the last day of the 2000s or Aughts/Noughts/Ohs/Naughts/Aughties/Noughties/Naughties/Zeroes. (January 1 2000 - December 31 2009)

With your example, can we say that December 31 2000 was the last day of the nineties?

Milleniums, Centuries and decades start with their first year. Which is 0 and ends with the 9.

In any case, I remember the most this decade are the ff:
    - Tsunamis, hurricanes and floods
    - 9/11 attacks
    - War on Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel, Lebanon, Georgia...
    - decade of our mighty Gloria Macapagal Arroyo
    - first black-american president
    - (something car related) Nissan Philippines' downfall
    - my childhood/adolescence
    - decade of the new Music revolution

No Galactus is right. 2011 is the start of the new decade, 2010 is still part of this decade. Even 2000 was wrongly stated as the start of the new millenium it was 2001...

In spite of the recession, I got a raise in 2009.
And I was not affected by Ondoy.
    Thank you, Singapore!
