dapat 3G ang phone. AFAIK, your local provider will provide you a handset compatible with japan's frequency should you activate your roaming there.

Japan has a different technology. They are using Personal Digital Carrier or PDC. Right now, if you have a nokia 6630 or 6650 you can use those phone with your local sim and you can get a coverage. Just make sure int'l roaming feature is activated. If you dont have those phone, Globe rents them out for P75/day.

that is correct. I was just there a few weeks ago. They are using the 3rd Generation W-CDMA by carriers like NTT-Docomo. If you have the phones that av8or has mentioned or some other phone manufacturers that support a hybrid GSM/WCDMA network then you're good to go.

You could also rent mobile phones at the Airport if you wish. Don't rent at your hotel because they charge more. The Airport rentals are the cheapest one's I've seen so far.

    promdi,

tama si ssaloon. your triband phone will not work in japan. you'll need to use a 3g handset. they're available for rent inside the airport in japan. just slip in your simcard and it should work. just make sure your international roaming feature is activated before you leave.

if you're a smart post-paid subscriber, you can roam on ntt-docomo or vodafone/j-phone.

    hope this info helps.
