Is there any noticeable difference between 1.73GHz and 1.86GHz as regards performance? i'm purchasing a VAIO FJ170 notebook, sayang din kasi additional $100 if i choose the latter.

always go to what you can afford....if you go for the 1.86 GHz tapos maliit din naman ang RAM mo (go for 1 Gig or more)...baka hindi noticeable ang difference than a 1.73 GHz tapos i-invest mo yung na lang ung $100 for the RAM upgrade.
109 baka gus2 mo magregister sa ebuyncell.com, marami expert dun hehe
There is a difference but the non-power users or non-techies won't notice the difference. Incidentaly, you don't reall get 1.86G or 1.73G - the actual throughput is always less. For example, yung 1.86G mga 1.82- 1.79G lang ang "performance level nyan". Same with other Pentiums - you don't really get the full G's as advertized.
if you plan to use the vaio in the philippines i hope you're aware that they don't have a service center here. But no difference na yan with regards to processing power, especially if you're a normal everyday user who surfs and uses ms office lang
Go for the lower clock speed, since you won't be notice the difference. Spend the extra money for either volatile memory (RAM), extra memory (hard drive) or DVD burner with double layer/light scribe.Originally Posted by 109
THANKS for the replies and suggestions. FJ series units are pre-configured with just 512MB DDR2 RAM, so i think i'll hv to settle for the 1.73GHz and add another 512-stick to the memory.
this is the ***y-looking FJ170 i'm crazy with
with the black lid
