it can also be transferred by simply shaking hands, kasi may pawis. usually ang agad nahahawa mga medical personnels at immediate family members nila, kasi sila ang expose sa may-sakit. very contagious ang infected person lalo na yung bangkay.

hmmm... it seems the Ebola virus in the US is more infectious than anticipated. There's talk that some health workers are contracting the virus even with usual precautions(that worked in Africa).

I hope the information is wrong though.
Damn, son! Where'd you find this?

Then Noli replied that maybe the PH gov't shouldn't be banning OFWs from going to these countries -- i.e. politically unstable, with ongoing wars, or impending pandemics -- since the pay and leave benefits are good. So he's saying, go to a country with an Ebola outbreak right at its borders, risk spreading the pandemic here and let the ill-equipped government deal with the fallout. In the meantime the French government has asked Air France to suspend flights to Freetown, Sierra Leone's biggest city(link) Simply amazing.

Sigurado ako, this will make twisted sense to some of his listeners. And sigurado ako, pag tinamaan tayo ng Ebola, he'll be one of the first people who will go on air and blame the government for this.

Utang na loob, somebody please describe the Ebola threat to him before he goes on air again.

Dallas health worker tests positive for Ebola

A "breach of protocol" at the hospital where Ebola victim Thomas Eric Duncan was treated before his death led to the infection of a health care worker with the deadly virus, and other caregivers could potentially be exposed, federal health officials said Sunday.
The hospital worker, a woman who was not identified by officials, wore protective gear while treating the Liberian patient, and she has been unable to point to how the breach might have occurred, said Dr. Tom Frieden, head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Duncan was the first person in the U.S. diagnosed with Ebola.

The CDC confirmed Sunday afternoon that the woman had tested positive for Ebola — the first known case of the disease being contracted or transmitted in the U.S.

DOH’s Tayag: Just a matter of time before PHL reports 1st Ebola case

The country's chief epidemiologist said it was "just a matter of time when the Philippines reports its first Ebola case."

"Outbreak countermeasures that exist today are not enough to contain Ebola," Dr. Eric Tayag, head of the Department of Health's National Epidemiology Center, said on Twitter.

The DOH-NEC held a summit on the Ebola virus on Friday in Quezon City.

Organized by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine, the summit aimed to spread awareness and information about EVD. Representatives from the government, the medical community, and the private and civil sector were present.

Pinoy medical professionals are everywhere around the world. It will only take one exposed balikbayan to be a potential carrier.

That's just it, OFWs are everywhere. Who knows baka me OFW/pinoy medical professional diyan sa First Presbytarian.

What's more: the PNP has also mentioned the presence of West African drug cartels -- how they got here is what worries me. If via conventional means e.g. airplane then maybe we can do checks at NAIA(wishful thinking?)....but if they got here by other means, i.e. no detection, quarantine...

i read on the news that an NBC news crew violated a 21-day quarantine; the female reporter even went so far as to go to her favorite restaurant in disguise(caught on CCTV) so she can eat her favorite soup.

Hmm, there seems to be a pattern among TV anchors, eh?
