If you started paying for gas and maintenance, but had no increase in income, then you have to give something up to retain your 50% savings ratio.

Perhaps you can lower it to 30%, then cut down further on other expenses.

Remember, as long as your income's the same, it's a zero-sum game - if expenses increase, savings decrease.

I know that it's easier said than done, but nothing good ever came easy right?

Ma'am Cathy for me tama po kuya nyo and you are actually lucky kasi you can stand on your own kahit paano you earn your keep. Natututo ka sa buhay kesa umaasa ka sa oldies mo. I'm sure your parents and lola is proud of you. D lang nila sinasabi yan pero they are proud.

Think of it this way. You earn your keep. Anything happens and you will not have a very hard life unlike sa cousins mo.

Apply ka na lang ng redundancy Cat. Baka they are offering X3 tapos apply ka kay boybi or EQ. Sigurado matataas offers nila. Pick the highest bidder.

Kaya nga feeling ko major fail ako. I cannot even afford to buy a house or car. My Mom is proud that I have a job and not a bum And the planned expat assignment made my Mom really proud too.

Pasalamat na rin ako at hindi Montero binili sakin. Baka sa kangkungan na ko pulutin. Gulong pa lang magkano na.

Thanks for the kind words. I still can't stand on my own but at least I am not a burden to my parents (according to my Mom)

Cath, remember that financial success isn't the only measure of a life well-lived. You're well-educated, articulate, and have a lot of opportunities knocking at your door. More than your claimed financial failure, what worries me more is your reluctance to step out of your comfort zone and take a leap of faith (yes, I'm referring to your odd reluctance to take an expat post).

Marami diyan, biglang yaman nga, pero la naman kwenta kausap, or di kaya walang modo. Character > money, all the time.
