Thanks for the prayers and kind words, Vinj. Yes I'll take your advice and probably take off for a few days. It's morbid stuff but I'll also have to make arrangements for my dad's estate while he is still with us. Travails of being the family lawyer, I guess.

YES! Do that while he is still around and he's strong enough to dictate what he would want, and can help settle any issues directly. It's practical, it's for the best of all, and it will save your family a lot in time, resources, and stress in the future.
