Home theater in-a-box for P 5,000

kayang kaya ng PC speakers yung 20 sq. m. it's not that big a floor area, parang room size din yun. the sound quality is a different discussion altogether, but as far as volume is concerned, you'll find it acceptable. my cambridge soundworks FPS2000 4.1 set fills a room enough for my ears (though i use my sennheiser more often hehe)

logitech Z line is a good series i think. for HT, you'd want strong, tight bass, and the logitechs are one of the better ones in this price range. the creative subs may underwhelm you for this application, and they get boomy all over the place at higher volumes. keep in mind that subs work best when placed in a corner of the room or at least next to a wall (depends per sub), and you'd want sturdy speaker stands for the satellites

IMO... bili ka ng cheap na front speakers (like wharfdales). AFAIK, the cheapest ones will cost around P5K (forgot the name of the store in harrisson plaza). though you can get very decent front speakers for about P9-10K (like acoustic research).

if your DVD player or even TV has a front out, good for you (some of them even have outs for center, sub & rears)! no need to buy a AV Receiver... BUT it still isn't enough to properly power your speakers....

my rule of thumb... if it (speaker) doesn't come in a wooden box, it will probably sound crappy...

try auditioning (audio jargon for listening / sampling) in a good shop (like those located in megamall / shang). believe me... after you've heard what a proper HT system sounds like, computer speakers will be FAR from your mind...

but sympre iba padin mga pioneer

pioneer? they aren't even spoken of in HT / Audio forums...

Sabi nila, Bose is overrated

yup... IMO, Bose is only good (for that price range) if you are short in space or want to "hide" their speakers...

so for <800 bucks ok na ba yung Bose 321? same situation ayaw ko ng makalat na wires e. more on clarity kesa booming bass (which I don't like).

Kung di mo nga kita na 3 speakers lang di moaakalain na hindi 5.1. Ang galing din ng Bose ano? Pinag-aralan nila ang pamamaraan ng pakikinig ng mga tenga natin at gumawa sila ng technology para lokohin yung pakikinig natin. Akala mo talaga 5.1 yung source ng pinakikinggan mong tunog! $999 yung bili ko nung Series II ko 5 months ago. Bose 3-2-1 Series I yata yung $799. Meron pang bago ngayon yung 3-2-1 GS yata..... $1.5 naman Mas malakas na daw bumayo.... yun ang nabasa ko.

Di ko pa na try yang Pioneer pero yung bago kong kaibigang Kano dito sa St. Louis meron nyan. Di nya daw ginagamit yung wireless, bale ikinakabit pa din nya yung wires. Mahina daw masyado pag wireless yung ginamit nya. Correct me if I'm wrong pero likod lang yata ang wireless sa Pioneer model na yan di ba? Ganun din siguro yung pagkabawas ng sound quality katulad ng sa wireless networking. Nababawasan yung bilis sa nwireless networking dahil kung saan-saan napupunta yung signal or hindi nakakarating ng buo. Di katulad ng may kable, talagang lahat napupunta sa dapat puntahan. Malakas naman daw yung sounds although he DOES NOT recomend his system kung clarity ang habol ng makikinig.

if u really like to HT with low budget, try to buy speakers nalng sa raon yung mga malalaki na speaker, i saw one around 4 ft height n 1ft width (sub included) .... tipong speaker na pang-HT sa tabi ng TV... the quality of the sound maganda ang tunog but sympre iba padin mga pioneer or bose ryt? ... i know it cost less than 3K pero sulit kana... saka save k pa sa electricity u dont have to open the PC if PS or watch k nlang DVD .. tas bumili nadin ng mga maliit na speakers for surround purposes para sa rear side. tas kabitan mo nalng ng switch para para pag PC lang or pang PS2 pwde mo pa ikabit sa DVD or khit sa TV lang.. ....

wharfdale diamond 8.1 ang tinutukoy ni mazda na speaker, medyo ngo ngo siya out of the box (well most speakers are naman) parang tsikot din yan kailangan ng break in.

as good as missions??? audition ako nyan kapag medyo free ako this week... magkano na kaya yun ngayon?

yup pare problem with the dtx is ngo ngo siya out of the box, gusto ko ng itapon.
pero with proper break in (1 song with 25% volume tapos 50% then 75%) 1 month's time kumanta na siya.

to be fair mas maganda ang bato ng low freq ng missions versus the dtx,
sa mids pareho lang and sa highs mas crisp lang ng kaunti ang DTX,

Overall kung pang Home Theater ok na ok na ang DTX
ewan ko lang kung may DTX pa ang alam ko
Euro6 and Euro 8 na ang binebenta ngayon.

mas maganda kung ma audition mo mismo ang dtx para mapakingan mo kung ok sayo ang performance ng dtx... if ok sayo then as what sir kimpOy suggest sa raon ka nalang bumili kasi mas mura price nila doon. for that price range, imho sulit na sulit na ang dtx speakers na ito.
