First of all, data entry error yan, dapat simpleng process lang yan, I suggest you go straight to NSO and ask about this. Wag kang magtanong sa City Hall hehe... Wala pa ngang 100 ang birth cert eh hehe.

i dont think u must spend 100k for that, cguro processing fee un kase ang alam ko jan to process or correction of details concerning e.g. ur gender is u must undergo court order and ciempre b4 u go to a court u must be presented by a lawyer, and ciempre magastos to avail a service from a private lawyer kaya cguro ganun charge sa frend mo.

i suggest mag inquire nlang cia sa PAO(public atty's ofc.)

that is BS. how can a simple correction in a birth certificate cost 100k.

i had an error in my birthdate before, i just went to the city registrar of my birthplace (binan, laguna) as far as i can remember it didn't cost me more than a hundred pesos.

i'm sorry to have to tell your friend that it's too late. he must wear a dress and live the rest of his life as a female

no offense to your friend boeing, but i am laughing out loud at his story :bwahaha: i hope it gets corrected soon!! that person who asked for 100k to fill out a simple bureaucratic change request will get his karma soon enough

bro -- check nyo muna ang entry sa central civil registrar. if the entry there has the correct gender, then you do not have a problem

however, if the gender entry at the central civil registrar is also wrong, then you will have to file a case in court for this type of correction and get a judicial order

RA 9048 gave the local civil registrars the authority to make certain types of correction without the need for a judicial order

unfortunately, section 2(3) of the said RA does not include corrections involving changes in ***, to wit

"Section 2. Definition of Terms – As used in this Act, the following terms shall mean:

    xxx

    (3) "Clerical or typographical error" refers to a mistake committed in the performance of clerical work in writing, copying, transcribing or typing an entry in the civil register that is harmless and innocuous, such as misspelled name or misspelled place of birth or the like, which is visible to the eyes or obvious to the understanding, and can be corrected or changed only by reference to other existing record or records: Provided, however, That no correction must involve the change of nationality, age, status or *** of the petitioner."

while your friend may have to go to court, it should not cost PHP 100K since i doubt if this will be a protracted hearing and more so, there will hardly be any opposing parties (except the solicitor's general office who is mandated to appear on behalf of the state and whose lawyers personally find such cases as a waste of their valuable time)
