God commanded the Jews to be marked in their flesh so as NO ONE would ever doubt they were part of Israel. When it started, the ones circumscised were not children, but adult males. It does not relate to infant baptism at all. It does relate to adult baptism for remission of sins, and is referred to in parallel, as the spiritual circumcision of the HEART. The seal or guarantee that YOU are a part of the NEW Covenant.

Hope that helps. BTW, infant baptism is not salvational baptism, no matter what people teach. Part of the reasoning in baptism is YOU consent to having your sins removed because YOU repent from sin. Babies cannot repent from anything and they have NO sins for which to repent. Neither can they confess Jesus as their saviour. How is a circumcision performed?

The parents hold the baby during the procedure. Afterwards, the mother is encouraged to nurse within the first minute following the procedure. This procedure is usually performed on or shortly after the 8th day from birth when clotting factors in the babies blood are at their highest levels.
