Goodbye Haagen Dazs, I guess there weren't enough of the masses who would buy ice cream at P120 a scoop...

Haagen-Dazs closing down in PH | ABS-CBN News

MANILA, Philippines – After more than a decade of selling high-end frozen desserts in the Philippines, Haagen- Dazs is closing its last two branches in the country.

On its website, Haagen-Dazs Philippines announced that it will cease operations at the Shangri-La Plaza Mall and Eastwood Mall on August 31.

Last June 30, Haagen-Dazs shut its branches at SM Mall of Asia and Robinsons Mall.

“Haagen-Dazs is closing down in the Philippines,” the luxury ice cream brand said.

General Mills Philippines, which distributes Haagen-Dazs in the country, was earlier planning to put up five to 10 more branches in Metro Manila.

But the brand was unable to attract enough customers, with General Mills Philippines citing an “increasingly challenging” business environment, according to a report from BusinessWorld newspaper.

The remaining products will be sold in retail stores until supplies last, it added.

Last year, Haagen-Dazs tapped model Georgina Wilson and Azkals player Phil Younghusband as its first brand ambassadors in the Philippines.

Haagen-Dazs first made its way to the Philippines in 1998. Placed in elegant-looking tubs and sold at a premium, the company’s products are marketed as an occasional indulgence
