In transition, management has reserved the name Mapua Institute of Technology and its logo with the Department of Trade and Industry. Mapua Institute of Technology shall be the name of the university’s College of Engineering and Architecture. It shall be alongside other Colleges named after other personages, i.e., San Lorenzo Ruiz College of Health Sciences and E.T. Yuchengco College of Business and Management. The university itself shall be called Malayan University. In the transition, while we are trying to be eligible for university status, the collection of colleges shall be called Malayan Colleges. Accordingly we are now working to change the name of the corporation from Mapua Institute of Technology to Malayan Colleges. The CHED-NCR has just approved this corporate name change.

This is sick! Maybe the Yuchengcos don't know the true essence of being a true blooded Mapuan. True, Mapua is known for Engineering and Architecture but that doesn't mean that the other courses offered by MIT is not greater in excellence or of low quality. They could very well take the name "Mapua University" and make it synonymous with other famous colleges & universities that offer such course(Health Sciences, Business and Management, and ITs etc.

"Mapua" name is a tradition the signifies the excellence in Arts & Engineering. It has a long history way back in the days of Tomas Mapua as the FIRST Architect in the Philippines. Mapua Institute of Technology is a by-product of Massachusett Institute of Technology's teaching principles as espoused by Don Tomas himself.

The Yuchengco Group could have interjected the other courses and make them synoymous with Mapua's excellence in teaching its primary field.

The dawn has finally arrived for those who aspire to become Mapuan rather than a Malayan.
