2 hurt in plane-trike collision in Lingayen airport
MANILA, Philippines – Two people were hurt as a tricycle slammed into a Cessna aircraft at an airport runway in Lingayen, Pangasinan on Saturday.
According to a report by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), a Cessna 152 plane carrying a flight instructor and a student just landed on the runway when a tricycle suddenly blocked its path.
Both Queenie Gaviola, flight instructor of Flight and Simulator Training, Inc. in Las Piñas, and student pilot Joseph Valledor, Jr. of Parañaque were injured in the collision.
The tricycle driver, meanwhile, immediately fled the scene after the mishap.
CAAP said the plane’s horizontal stabilizer was damaged.
Authorities are currently investigating how the tricycle was able to access the airport’s runway.-- Report from Ricky Velasco, dzMM
The tricycle has the right of way because it is on the main road.
Baguio airport also has a crossing on the runway, for vehicles and pedestrians. I was just there recently.
Nope..this ain't photochopped...
RP-C7250 (cn 779) Dangerously low, this ATR was actually in level flight when i viewed my sequence of shots, the white perimeter fence seen is approximately 3 feet in height, this aircraft only just cleared the fence to which i did not think at this moment would be possible. A Zest airline aircraft hit this fence only a couple of months earlier in a similar approach with persons injured on board.
Looks real as there's a boom to block traffic at the background.
I remember there was also an incident before in one of the provinces where some idiot relative of a LGU official would use the airport as a shortcut to go home. One time, a plane had to abort it's landing since he was on the runway teaching some girl how to drive or something.
^ may boom nga......
ibig sabihin, kada may lalapag na plane, ibababa yan?
alam kaya nung maintainer nyan yung mga flight schedules?![]()
sa catarman, northern samar pwede rin dumaan ang mga auto at public transport sa runway pero regulated - meaning only on some hours of the day. but i understand the city is doing something about that now by totally banning people and their vehicles w/ no business being at the airport.
