frat hazing will never be gone...its a reality.

frat hazing was never made to kill would-be-members. accidents do happen, i just hope the culprits be responsible for the incident.

I also hope that would-be-members be responsible enough to be prepared (physically and psychologically) when entering one.

pang apat, we give necessary drinks and food. lots of water with salts (yung mabilis ma absorb).

laslty, we only hold the finals for a couple of hours. ndi magdamagan. we set limits to the amount of time to which the neophyte will "suffer".

nway, hazing is bad according to law so dapat wala na.

    lastly, we

It's as if those students have no confidence whatsoever in their own abilities, kaya sila sumasali ng frat. Naghahanap sila ng masasandalan, especially in Law where you can practically lose yourself in studies, only to be frustrated if you fail the bar.

I had a classmate who, as it turned out, was a fratman; I saw him participating in a rumble once in front of our college, when they were engaging fratmen from a rival group. Ang bilis pala ng mga ganung pangyayari. They swarm in, hammer the prey with blows, then they scatter, all in under a minute. He was the only one I could identify. The next day, we saw him in class, parang wala siyang binugbog the day before.

Then, upon the prodding of friends, I tried joining a frat once sa UP Diliman, a group based in the College of Engineering. Hindi naman sila pisikal sa initiation, but I found that I didn't have the time to be a neophyte. I couldn't meet the daily quota of hours that you have to spend sa tambayan nila, asking all the senior members to sign my sheets. I found it tedious (and pointless) so I backed out after a week; there were bigger things on my mind, like my thesis. Ok na sa akin yung may college org ako, one that is more appropriate for my major.

The only group that really freaked me out in UP was this religious group na sobraaaaaaang kuliiiiiiiiiiit. Lagi sila sa Sunken Garden tsaka sa Lagoon, two of my favorite haunts, nang-aambush ng mga estudyante, sabay imbita sa bible study at worship service nila. Eventually, I saw MGB's episode describing them as a cult. Naykupo.....

RIP to a fellow scholar ng bayan...

Unfortunately, this is his choice. He knows the consequences should things don't go right. He knows what can happen.

I have many friends in Sigma Rho (there's only ONE REAL SigmaRho that's in UP Diliman). They tried so much to recruit me but one thing i want to avoid when i reach the pinnacle of my career as a business mogul is the assumption that I'm only successful because of a frat in my back.

    an update...

Doc in UP stude's hazing death disappears

The doctor who brought the body of an alleged hazing victim to the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) in Quezon City on Monday has gone into hiding.

A source told ABS-CBN News that Dr. Francisco Cruz, a VMMC physician, went on “emergency leave.”

It was Cruz who brought the body of Cris Anthony Mendez to the hospital.

VMMC declined to issue a statement on Cruz’s alleged involvement to the death of Mendez, who was reportedly being recruited to join the Sigma Rho fraternity in the University of the Philippines's College of Law.

ABS-CBN correspondent Adrian Ayalin learned that Cruz lives in Congressional Village in Quezon City. A check with the subdivision security guard and a call to Cruz's home confirmed this.

Cruz called up Cruz's home again on Thursday but the woman who answered the phone said he has yet to return.

It was also learned that Cruz has a son named "Miko" who studies law in UP. The law student is reportedly a Sigma Rho member.

Ariel Paul Ante, chairman of the student council of the UP National College of Public Administration and Governance, meanwhile, has also disappeared.

Ante was identified as the one who recruited Mendez into the fraternity.

The 20-year-old Mendez, a graduating student, was declared dead-on-arrival at the VMMC early Monday morning.

Reports said he was brought to the hospital by a man identified as “Dr. Francisco Cruz.” The man was in a white van with license plate ZAB-393, which was followed by two other vehicles, among which was another vehicle with license plate XAS-548.

Reports said Mendez was already pale and unresponsive when he reached the hospital and that he had bruises all over his body, particularly on the back of his arms and thighs.

Mendez, who hailed from Tiaong, Quezon, is the eldest in the family. With a report from the Philippine Star
