Los Banos, Laguna, Philippines - Visiting German biologists from Deutsche Gesellschaft für Biologische Systematik GfBS stumbled into perhaps the greatest find in mankind's history, the Forbidden Fruit of the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden.
Scholars throughout the generations have seeked to identify the fruit who's consumption decided the fate of humanity and it's quality of life. Numerous theories as to the nature of the 'fruit', (ranging from grapes, banana, etrog (citron), dates to figs, wheat, sycamore and even mushroom), with the apple being the most commonly accepted answer.
The forbidden fruit, the GfBS revealed, is the chayote (Sechium edule), also known as choko, which belongs to the gourd family Cucurbitaceae along with melons, cucumbers and squash.
